Quote from: familyman1993  My questions is will the water be harmful left in there until the next trip or is it fine to leave?  If ok to leave in there, should there be any sanitizer in it?
We drain ours between trips if it's going to be more than a week. Nasty fuzzy stuff can develop if the water sits stagnant to long, then you have little black fuzzys coming out in the flush water. (yep we learned that hard way)

I wouldn't use any kind of sanitizer (bleach) for fear it would harm the seals in the toilet system. The blue stuff goes in the bottom tank, but on occasion I do add a tsp or 2 to the flush tank and it hasn't hurt anything.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.:)

We live in a hot humid climate, and don't empty the flush tank (freshwater), and have never had problems.

We never empty ours either. I just ad water when needed but we use ours quite a bit.

I would not recommend putting additives in the fresh water side unless you know EXACTLY what is in both chemicals and carefully research the reaction of those chemicals when mixed. It's never a good idea to mix chemicals on your own. The fact is, you just don't need to.

Sometimes, when you mix chemicals like that, you can end up with an undesirable chemical creation inside of your camper while you sleep.

I drain mine at the end of every trip.  No reason to grow gunk in the lines.  I would not add a chemical to the fresh water.:)

Thanks for the reply.  I've gotten a lot of feedback and it appears everyone is agreement to just leave the fresh side alone (except during cold winter).  Sounds good to me.  I just wanted to make sure we wern't going to damage anything if some amount of fresh water was left in between trips.  Won't plan on adding any chemicals to the fresh water side.
