Well we bought a new Fleetwood Westlake about a month ago," She's a beauty "as the late Steve Irwin would say,aka The Crocodile Hunter. We have never had a pop up before, and by we I mean my wife and two
boy's.Anyhow we are very excited about going to different camp grounds around Florida.Well I am just bored and just signed up for popuptimes about a week ago, thought I would share some thoughts.

Enjoy your Westlake. Our pop-up has been all over the place, from Maine to California and Oregon to Tennesee (26 states in all, so far). It's helped make us into the family we are today, and will soon be sleeping grandchildren too (if we don't upgrade to a hybrid).

my family and i have bought a used PUP as well .a couple of immediate trips are planned one with cub scouts and the other to river rock ORV (jeepin)in GA..

We are in the West Palm Beach area, and are looking forward to our first trip. Now we have to work around baseball and soccer, but we would like to go to Sebring, Highland Preserve State Park. We drove through there on a trip to Dade City about a month and half ago, beautiful park. A friend of my wife's has a pop up, they have been there with there kids and they said it was great.Talk to ya soon.

our maiden voyage was to lake griffin the week end before the tornado.weather radio is a must now
We used a weather radio from Oregon Scientific. I've since used a couple of other things they made. All of them were JUNK.
Whatever you do get, you want a weather radio with SAME encoding, so it won't wake you up for storms three counties away, but will for the county (or sometimes even part of a county) you are in.

yes i do have the encoded
model.it just so happens my best friend (who has since moved)works for NWS and made sure i bought the right one.storm systems here do travel across the state rather quickly a multi-county warning is very
common.you are correct the other models can be quite annoying
We bought our pop up used also. We bought it last august and have used it at least once (sometimes twice) a month every month since we bought it. We have been to state parks all over north/ central florida so if you have any questions about these parks just ask we may be able to help.
Thanks Mike,
Might have to check in with you on some Fla. campsites.

yes please post up about the FLA campsites .they look good on paper .but coming from someone who has been there............look forward to camping............steve
Anastasia State Park is great but it is a beach so that is definetly a summer spot. Great surf fishing. Camp store and small snack stand on site.
Oleno Sate Park was also very nice. We had deer walking through our campsites on 2 of the days we were there. Itchutucknee sp is nearby and during the tubing season they offer transportation back and forth.
Silver River sp is next to silver springs theme park. Both very nice. New showers and bathrooms there.
Paines Prarie just outside Gainesville was also nice. We saw the wild horses and the Buffalo. Imagine that Buffalo in Florida. I grew up in N Florida born and raised. I always heard about them but it was something else to see them.
These are just a few we have been to. All the parks were clean and well kept. Park staff was friendly and helpful.
We are going to Florida Caverns sp in the morning west of Tallahassee. Ill let you know how that goes.

I live in the Tampa area and Fort Desoto in a great family campground. I have a trip planned in April with my new PU.
Just a crazy name I came up with.Originally from W.VA. used to back pack some in the mountains, so I thought Mountaindew would be appropriate.Have a great weekend.

We just bought a new Fleetwood Sea Pine (DH, DS-6, DD-3) and used it for the first time at St. Andrews State Park. We had a great time. DH and I are used to tent camping but I had a PUP as a child with some great memories so we decided to try it out with our kids. I am curious as to how your trip to Florida Caverns went because that is one more place I am looking into. Thanks!

Recently bought PU from LimeJeeep (Thanks Steve)
We've reserved a site at Fort Desoto in June. Can't wait. As soon as we get time off work we're going on a practice trip, for a night or two. Maybe up to silver lake east of brooksville area, or somewhere not too far. Do some bike riding, fishing, and just chillout.
