We have booked 10 sites for April 12 to 15 at Ponderosa.
We will be in sites 105 to 114.
The price is $32.00 per night.
Campground map is at,
http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2863228730098329825KuWlDA (//%22http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2863228730098329825KuWlDA%22)
We will be in sites 105 to 114.
From Highway 50 (Big Rig-Friendly Option): Shingle Springs lies between Cameron Park and Placerville. Take the Ponderosa Road exit and go to the north side of Hwy 50, where you will find North Shingle Road (to the right just after you cross the bridge over Hwy 50). Follow North Shingle Road for several miles until you come to a fork in the road; stay to the left (north), and you will now be on Lotus Road. Lotus Road ends at Hwy 49 in Coloma. Turn left, cross the bridge, and we're on the right, just across the river.
Sal
Joan, Put us on the list for this one. We'll let you know which days as soon as we check the schedules at work.
Any idea on the rates for this park yet?
Thanks for hosting yet again.

We would love to attend this one but we will just be returning from our Oregon trip.
Dave/Champ...So that's no excuse, it's only about an hour's drive from home! :eyecrazy:
Since the Ponderosa Resort is a much smaller place than Lake of the Springs and Yosemite Lakes, I will have to send them a $50 deposit now and then they want the rest of the money 2 weeks before we arrive. I will need your money for the days you are staying by March 23rd. There are only water and electricity hook-up in the area where we are assigned so bring your tote, if you need it. Dogs may attend, with the usualy rules.
Is anyone interested in doing any rafting or kayaking? I time races for Current Adventurs who is based in Lotus (where the Resort is) and I can contact them for pricing. I'm sure it will depend on the number of people interested.
Joan
HEY DRUNK SQUAD!!!
You wanted me to see if we can super host here and now I haven't heard from any of you except Champ/Dave.
Come on, sign up!!!
:compumad: :banghead:
Joan
We're in! (Fri 13th-Sun 15th)
Lake Of The Springs was a great place, and we've stayed at Coloma RV Resort - which looks like it is about 4 miles away (but $50/night), so we know we like the area.
The only complication is you are now forcing me to end my "ritual"!!! I have to file my taxes before April 15, since we'll be camping! (no guarantee we will get home in time to finish it)
Oh, the horror! A procrastinator's nightmare!
:D
[edit]
Ding! Ding! Ding! Google is your friend. Because of the weekend, the due date is Tues April 17, 2007!!!

Yay! Procrastinators Of The USA, Unite!!! :D :D :D

(Friday The 13th????)
Joan, We will be there Thu-Fri-Sat nights. Please email me your mailing address so we can send you a check.
Put NNC in the subject line somewhere so my spam filter will let it through.

Thanks again !
This sounds like fun. The kids love the Coloma area. Unfortunately, I have no vacation time. I had to use it up to help my mom and dad out.
I am in the process of getting my Notary Public business up and running so I will have my weekends back. Yippee!!!
Have a great time.
Jacqui
This one looks too good to pass up. The TT parks are nice, and it's so close! Look forward to seeing you all again... Pencil me in for Fri. and Sat. nights.
Thanx, Kevin
Zamboni/Glen, gald we didn't mess up your ability to procrastinate!! :-()
OC Campers/Jacque, sorry you can't make this one either. Let us know when you get your license and we can have a mini rally to celebrate. :tent:
The Flyer Crew/Kevin, glad you can join us, it will be nice to meet you and your family.
Gwenzella/George or Donna, I have added the dates to the "Attendees List".
ATTENDEES LIST:
Gwenzilla 4/12-15
Zamboni ?
The Flyer Crew ?
Osborne's (Joan's Friends) ?
Hetzer's (Joan's Friends) ?
Calstate's (Sal & Joan) 4/11-15
Joan
Hi Sal,
Actually, we've met! I am Tania's ex. I have another wife now, her name is Rita. She has to work Saturdays but the locations vary so if her work is on this end of town she might come up Friday night, but more likely will join us there Saturday afternoon. My daughters will be with their mom that weekend but one of Rita's sons might come along (and possibly bring his girlfriend), and Rita's mom might come too. So, I might show up alone on Friday or have up to four other people with me, don't know yet...
And since I saw you last (Yosemite Lakes '05) I got another RV. This one is a motorhome, a 1995 28' Class C thet says Chevrolet Flyer on the side. This is where the name "Flyer Crew" came from, but due to my daughters and their friends the coach has lately become known as "The Hobomobile". I may have to change my screen name if the new name sticks. It seems popular, and I believe they made a Myspace for it... But who knows what will they think of next?
Quote from: Calstate361Zamboni ?
That would be Fri 13 - Sun 15th.
I think I now know too much about Kevin and how his crew/bus came by their name! :)
I think I still feel more comfortable thinking about him (them) as "that guy, crammed in the RV with all those non-males, and then losing his glasses"!
:D
Truthfully, it'll be good to see you (Kevin) and everyone else again!
Sal, I'm totally new to rv/pop-up camping. Can you please explain what it means and how much it costs to be a 1000 Trails member? Do I need to join first before going to the Ponderosa with you all?
I tried looking at their website, but I couldn't find any defininative pricing and such. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Since we are on the subject of camping memberships, are there any others I should consider joining?
Thanks again!
Diane- Joan & Sal are members, and as such, they can "host" others, which they have done several times (so, we don't need to be members).
A little clarification...Calstate360 is Sal and I'm (Joan) Calstate361 and I'm the one that posts most of the time. The story behind the handle is that Sal was a tow truck driver for AAA, before me, and that was his call name so when we joined PUT, he asked me what name I wanted I just said "361". So there you have it.
Anyway, Zamboni is correct. We are members and we "Super Host" you all to come. You don't have to be a member nor listen to their presentation, but you do have access to all their amenities. Not bad for just $32 per night. You are welcome to join us, just let me know for sure and what days you will attend. I will have to send off the $50 deposit this weekend and I have to have them paid in full around the 1st, so anyone planning on joining send me your private e-address and I'll send your our home address to mail the check. You can respond here or send it directly to me here at work: jlutz@dhs.ca.gov. I have updated the "Attendees List".
Diane, the reason that there is no cost listed on the NACO/Thousand Trails web site is because they have so many different contracts. It depends on when it was purchased, from who, etc. It's a long story but that is the quick and dirty version. If you come to the rally, and I hope you do, we can fill you in more about it with no pressure to join.
FLYER CREW/Kevin, if you do come by yourself on Friday you will have to tell the guard when you check in that the rest of your group is coming on Saturday. I'll also need their names to report to the campground.
ATTENDEES LIST:

Sorry, Joan!
I failed to pay attention... I actually knew that Sal is 360 and you're 361 at some point and forgot... and, it even says "Joan" under your posts...
The teenagers never commit to anything. I will likely find out whether they're coming or not when they show up or don't... If I'm lucky I'll know when I'm leaving for the rally... But in any event I will name names to the campground staff or to you sooner if you need them.
It will be great to see everyone again, and meet the new folks!
Kevin/Flyer Crew,
I will need the names of the kids to send in with our attendees list. You can send it to me here at work: //www.jlutz@dhs.ca.gov
Dave & Donna/Gwenzilla, I received your nice card and the check.

HI Sal , Joan & Gang:
I have been waiting for your next trip!! Finally... but unfortunatly it falls on my neices wedding!! :( . Hopefuly we can make the next one.
Have a great trip , pjwaker (Petrina J.)
Petrina, sorry you can't make it this time. Mark your calendar for Half Dome Jyjinx V (Yosemite Lakes). This is another NACO/TT resort just 5 miles outside the Yosemite entrance. We have hosted there for the group for 5 years now. We are looking at the end of June when all the kids are out of school. Probably June 28 through July 1st. I'll have Sal post this after this trip.
Kevin/Flying Crew, I received your check; thanks.
Now it's time to start the non-list for the Saturday Night Pot-Luck:
ATTENDEES LIST & Pot-Luck non-list:
Gwenzilla: 4/12-15
Zamboni: 4/13-15
The Flyer Crew: 4/13-15
Calstate's (Sal & Joan): 4/11-15 = Wendy's Chili (yes it's the fast food place)

Boy, do I need this trip after all the stuff going on here at Work!!! :compumad: :banghead: :yikes:

Quote from: Calstate361Now it's time to start the non-list for the Saturday Night Pot-Luck
Knowing the NNC's aversion to "lists" we are coining the phrase "menu enrollment guideline" (MEG). So put on the MEG that Gwenzilla will be preparing some form of chicken wings, and, if we can pull it off, some fried rice too.
George, Donna and the chaos crew (AJ)
Hey, I like that one.....
ATTENDEES LIST & MEG:
Gwenzilla: 4/12-15 = Some form of Chicken Wings and maybe Fried Rice
Zamboni: 4/13-15
The Flyer Crew: 4/13-15
Calstate's (Sal & Joan): 4/11-15 = Wendy's Chili (yes it's the fast food place) and the Costco Broccoli Salad
I also am planning to make sausage gravy with biscuts for Saturday morning.
Joan
Hey all, I talked to the resort yesterday to confirm that we CAN HAVE CAMPFIRES !!! We will be brining out tub but if you want your own, the campground will bring you a ring to your site, just ask for it after you get parked and see if your site has one or not. They also have wonderful Broasted Chicken (Pressure Deep Fried) at the store where you go to check in. It's on the left side of the store. AND, last time we were there, there was quite a bit of noise form the bar/pizza place across the street at night. I guess it is the local hang out. Just FYI in case you want to order some chicken or pizza for the night you come in or we can go over to the pizza place Friday night. We can decide when everyone gets there.
See you all soon.
Joan
Hey, some intersting news...we received our NACO/TT magazine the other day and there was an article on Ponderosa! In the article it was stated that you can arrange a raft ride throught he campground. If you are intersted, let me know NOW because tomorrow is my last day at work to receive any e-mails. We are leaving Wednesday morning so will see you all there.
ATTENDEES LIST & MEG:
Gwenzilla: 4/12-15 = Some form of Chicken Wings and maybe Fried Rice
Zamboni: 4/13-15 + ?
The Flyer Crew: 4/13-15 + ?
Calstate's (Sal & Joan): 4/11-15 = Wendy's Chili (yes it's the fast food place) and the Costco Broccoli Salad
I also am planning to make sausage gravy with biscuts for Saturday morning.
REMENBER, when get to the campground (you cross the bridge on highway 49 and it is right there on the right), you park in the front of the store and go inside to the back right side to check in (that's if they haven't changed the set up since the last time we were there). Tell them you are with the Super Host (Lutz-Vasquez) and ask what spot we are in. They will give you a code to open the gate. We hope to be past the creek closer to the restrooms.
Joan
I am bringing tri-tip, and salad. My mom will bring something too, a dessert maybe.
As always, no one leaves hungry!
I was so busy at work today that I didn't have time to even check this site out until I got home. We are leaving in the morning so we won't be available. I'll have Sal post when we leave. Just remember to tell them that you are with the Super Host (Lutz-Vasquez) and ask what space we are in so you can find us. See you all soon.
ATTENDEES LIST & MEG:

Wer are leaving now. See you all when you get here.

Well, I'm back at work, BOO HOOO :% and we made it home safe and sound. We had a wonderful time with everyone and as usual, there was way to much food at the pot-luck. Everything was delicious! I have posted my "Wendy's Chili" recipe in the recipe forum for those of you who want it.
We had another mishap with the trailer; the dirver's side front jack broke on us (the other one broke last May) so we will have to get that fixed. Hopefully our after market insurance will cover this one also.
Besides all that it was still fun.
See you all at Half Dome Hijinx V on the last weekend in June, if not sooner.
Joan
I too am back to work (sigh). However since I have a few minutes between projects I'll take the moment and pass on our thanks to Joan & Sal for hosting a great get together. We had a marvelous time in spite of the rain on Saturday. Luckily we did the lionshare of our sightseeing on Friday.
Additional thanks to Glen & Kelly for volunteering the use of their camper for the pot luck, we had a great time meeting Kevin and his crew and listening to all the great stories going on around the table, including Glens bonafide claim to having a screw loose (snicker snicker).
We pray everyone made it home safely, and did so without any problems (sorry about your jack Joan).
Joan your chili was fab! As was everyones contributions to the potluck. I'll be sure to get the chili receipe for Donna, and I want you to know that if I would have known how very spicy hot that bowl of noodles you gave me to take home was, I would have prepared it for my lunch on that rain soaked chilly morning. That was some hot stuff (BTW where again did you buy that stuff? I know you mentioned it but I forgot... and now I want to bring some anytime the weather is going to be cold).
Thanks again everyone.
George, Donna and the Chaos Crew (AJ)

George, glad you like that spicy HOT :yikes: bowl of chicken soup. I purchased it at the store in Coloma so I don't think you want to drive up there again to purchase some. Look on the back of the bowl for the distributor, they sometimes include a web site and you can order from them directly.
Ya, that darn jack was/is a bummer. Sal hasn't even unhooked the trailer from the truck yet; he said he's too disgusted with it now. Luckily our driveway is long enougth to have the trailer and the truck on it and not hang too much on to the sidewalk.
That's all for now.
Joan
Hey George/Gwenzilla,
I saw the "HOT" bowl of soup, like the one I gave you, at my local Albertsons in the Chinese food isle; so check your local Albertsons.
Joan
EDITED 4/30/07
George, I saw some this weekend at Wal-Mart for much cheaper!
Joan
Thanks Joan, We have an Albertsens and a WalMart a few miles away, I'll check them out.
Have you gotten your trailer jack(s) repaired yet?

HMMMMMMM!!! I smell a story here.... :yikes: You can't just say stuff like that without telling the whole story.......... :p
No, the ground was so wet when we got home Sal had to leave it hooked up on the truck for a couple of days, then when he got it off the truck and was trying to jack it back up to level it the jack broke throuth the underside, through the wood and broke/tore the fiberglass in the front. He is so p'd off now it is still sitting there. I guess I'm going to have to light a fire under him to get it jacked back up and over the the dealer for service. Hopefully the after market insurance will not only pay for the jack (which they did for the last one) but also the damage done to the front because the jack broke. We will see; our luck, they will only pay for the jack and not the damage.
Thanks for asking.
Enjoy your "HOT" soup!
Joan
Sorry for the delay (with the new job, I am more cautious surfing from work... but in the evenings, too worn out to "get online").
Attached is the photo from the potluck, and here is a link to the full size 2600x2000 image (http://www.goglen.com/post/DSC07429.JPG).
I have to say, it is nice having a floorplan where you can park a bunch of very hungry adults inside a camper and all eat. Jack, the dog on the bunk, was quite the "entertainer" -- he was groaning and cooing and making all sorts of racket, hoping for "people food" :)
Not trying to resurrect this old posting, but while I was putting together a photo page for the Russian River rally I came across a few photos from this Ponderosa rally so I decided to set up a photo page for this rally too.
Its not much but if you're interested check out:
