Hey all!
Well I just unrolled my awning on this camper for the first time and it was missing the little wooden dowel thingies. I didn't want to hassle with going back to the dealer and waiting for some new dowels to come in, so a quick trip to Home Depot and I just made my own.
My question is which side of the dowel goes towards the top of the awning, the holes closer together or farther apart. (They're drilled at an angle) I tried going back through my old camper stuff and pictures to see, but to no avail.
I am trying to avoid aggrivation by putting them on backwards and having to undo all the little knots. Thanks for any help!
I believe you want the top hole threaded so the angle is away from the awning, creating more friction and making sliding more difficult
We pick up our '04 Bayside in about 2 weeks - hope we don't run into a similar issue with the awning. I intend to make sure we set it up during the walk through. Let me know how you make out though. We are not far from each other - let's stay in touch!!
Out of curiousity, is there a name for the angled holey guy line tensioner thingamajigger?
Fleetwood simply calls them a "rope adjuster"! But I have seen those thingys in old movies of tents set up during wars, african safaris, in the outback, and by the pioneers and explorers. Did everyone just call it a "rope adjuster"? :)

Rick I looked at mine today and the holes are angled further apart facing the awning and the side that hooks to the stake are closer together. Never noticed until I looked for you.:D
I had no luck with the standard nylon rope and dowels system that Fleetwood uses. The nylon rope is just too slippery and it doesn't hold a know to well. I replaced my with some lightweight climbing rope and just tie a knot as needed.
Their system of putting a stake in the ground right near each pole doesn't work to well either. I'd suggest setting it up when you have the time and figuring out a new way to attach everything.
