Title: Generators
Post by: tazman547 on Apr 15, 2007, 02:52 PM
I have been contemplating a generator to run my camper.
I know Honda and even Yamaha make very quiet generators, are there any lesser expensive generators out there that are quiet? Also, are there small generator options out there that let you run the generator on propane?

I bought a cheep generator from kragen a 3500w for 299.  I am sorry I did, as it works well it's too loud, only used it on two trips in the desert, I now use dual batteries.  I know people really love the honda and yamaha, I'd prefer the 2400w yamaha as it will run your ac and there is a after market kit to run it on propane it weights 74lbs as the honda 200w is around 45lbs.  Hope this helps, I guess my cheep generator can be used we we lose power, I'm still trying to make myself feel better about buying somthing that is collecting dust.

Thank you for the response.
This does help, it helps confirm my suspision on the Kragen and Pep Boys generators. I didn't know Yamaha had a propane kit, cool. :)

Tri-fuel Yamaha (http://www.yamaha-propane-natural-gas-generators.com/ef2400is.htm)

I like the look of this one, but it's not cheap, which is why I still have not bought one.

That is a nice unit. You are right, it is a bit spendy.  :yikes:
