Title: tortion axle
Post by: mercc350 on Apr 21, 2007, 11:08 AM
Anyone have experence with tortion axle PU. I just bought my 1996 Jaco 1206. It doesn't have leaf spring suspention so I an assuming it is a tortion setup. Anyhow I need to service the bearings before I take it anywhere and need to know floorjack placement before I do so. Anyone done this before?

Don't jack it under the axle or you will bend it and cause big problems. I jack mine either just in front or just behind the wheel where the frame members intersect. That is where the frame that runs front to back crosses with the frame member that runs side to side. Haven't had any problems with it. I do use a floor jack, but it should work the same with any jack. Be sure you chock the opposite wheel, and use jack stands for safety.
