Do the later power stations from the Coleman campers convert electric hookup so you can run your 12V lights, etc in your PU? I realize that with my 1978 I can only run the 12V from the TV or Battery, can I upgrade to be able to run the 12V from the campground plug in?

That is the purpose of the onboard converter. I cannot understand why a '78 model woould not be so set-up, too. Or am I missing something here? (again)

You should have a converter in a '78 Coleman. It will have a switch on the front with three positions, Battery, off, AC.
There will be a patched up hole in the front of a dinette seat if someone has removed it.

here is a picture of what is there, could this not be the original unit?
Since I've never seen an animal like that, I suspect there's been a "change". Converters do go bad and are replaced. Could it be possible to contact the previous owner and see if they made any changes?
Also, let's see if anyone else has laid eyes upon it and can offer a reply.

On my '83 columbia the converter was on the outside of the bench just below the outlet on the back of the trailer. The breaker box looked very simular to the picture you have posted. It was located underneath the dinette seat. The converter had to be plugged in before it would work. Never did find out in it was factory or not. There are still pictures on my webshots page if you would like to go take a look and see if it looks at all familiar.

If you do not have a converter in the PU, you can add one. Good luck with the project. My mid 80's Coleman camper did have a converter with the 12 volt, off, AC setting on it.:)
