Title: folding bicycles
Post by: jmckinle1 on May 10, 2007, 07:57 PM
We are thinking about folding bicycles to take camping, mostly because the bicycles I have used with the smaller wheels seemed more stable.

Does anyone have any experience with these.  Thanks.

Long time ago - yes.

Don't plan on doing a lot of cycling with them, it takes a lot of energy to get a 16 inch wheel to go any decent speed.  My personal experience is that they aren't as stable as a larger wheeled bike, simply because you tend to be perched over them, instead of lower relative to the wheel.  But that is only my two cents worth - maybe things have changed? Make sure you carry both tube and tire spares, they're not a real popular size for a lot of places.
