Title: Firewood
Post by: K9 Willem on May 28, 2007, 10:04 PM
Howdy!

I was hoping some of the Orange County, Ca. folks can help out.. I'm still new to the camping thing and I am looking for a place to buy firewood in bulk... Ralphs is getting kinda expensive for a few pieces of wood..

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

P.S. South OC is more local for me..

Thanks,

K9 Willem/ Jason

It's not in bulk but I purchase our firewood from Stater Bros or Vons.  They are both around $4.99 a bundle.  I haven't seen it cheaper anywhere else.  I hope this helps.

I used to go out to a nursery in Huntington Beach.  They sold it by the trunk load.  I don't remember the street (I want to say it was either Goldenwest or Edwards).  I want to say it was $25 for a trunk full.  Enough for quite a few campfires.

they load it up for you. I usually bring a couple of rubbermaid tubs

last time I was there I saw a sign you can buy a larger quanity and pick it up as you need it.

there is also a place off the toll road, Ive seen the sign when I take it north off the 5

well apparently the firewood place I saw from the toll road is now gone, looks like they are going to build something there soon

they don't have a price on their site.  How much is a car load or a few rubbermaid buckets full?

Dee4j,

Thanks for the info on the woodshed in Orange.. Went there last week... I was very impressed with the operation..  I got a full truck load for $85.. The guy said it was about a 1/4 cord.. I bought a 1/4 cord rack and I had wayyy more than that when I unloaded...  Used a portion of the wood last weekend at San Elijo and it burned nice...

Thanks Again,
Jason
