I have a Starcraft Camper with the Goshen lift system. It has four springs and one main lift cable. I don't consider myself very mechanical. Is this a repair I should attempt myself? The cable is slightly frayed. I figure we will camp with it the rest of the season and replace it in the winter. How much does it cost to have a dealer or repair shop replace the cable?
Thanks.

If you have a Starcraft dealer in your vicinity call them ask for a quote. A Jayco dealer will work, too. There are valso some RV repair places in my area that will work on any brand/type of camper, so getting a quote ought not be too big a deal. Should you get the idea that you might want to tackle the project yourself, Goshen themselves will be a great help right over the phone! You might even consider giving them a call for some free advice.

I did it myself and it was easy. I even replaced a corner spring. Goshen parts direct are really cheap and they are a lot of help. See them at http://www.goshenstamping.com/content/lift_system.htm.
Do not go through a distributor. The markup is astronomical.
Good luck.
