Title: LONG time lurker, finally posting - GOT MY CAMPER!!!
Post by: naganthunter on Jul 11, 2007, 12:27 AM
Hi All!

As the subject says, I've been lurking here for...well...years!  I FINALLY got my pop-up!  Flagstaff 228D - fits my needs down to a "t"  - not to mention the new truck I **had** to buy to tow it - 10,500 pounds of towing capacity...not sure it can handle the pop-up!!   :eyecrazy:

I'm looking forward to getting involved here on the board now that I've finally got my ticket for admission!!

Here are some pics!!

Way to go.  I had to first convice my wife that I needed a bigger truck just in case and then after I got that to wait a year to convice her I needed to tow something bigger since I now had the truck.

Congrats and welcome to PUT!

You must have the 6.0L and 4.10 gears. You won't have any problem pulling that or any of a lot bigger trailers. I have the 5.3L and 3.42 gears...wish I had the 4.10's, as I'm pulling a 5000# hybrid with a load of wood, and I can tell I've got 3.42's. But I got a custom tune that helps too, from http://www.wait4meperformance.com.

Congrats - looks great!  Now, why did you wait so long to stop lurking?  I was still tenting for at least two years after I joined this site.  Didn't let that stop me from attending a pop-up rally.  I will say I'm way happier being off the ground now.  Enjoy that new camper!

Affirmative on the 6.0L and 4.10.  I was looking at the 5.3/3.42, and darn near bought one until I came across this guy - and for the same price as the 5.3.  Granted, the 5.3 had a lot more foo-foo bells and whistles, I've got EXACTLY what I wanted in the 6.0.  My hope is that we do a few years in the pop-up, then move up to something bigger - this way no need to buy a new TV as well   :)

And to Cyclone - I have no idea why I lurked for so long.  But I'm glad to finally be out of the no-pop-up-closet  ;)
