Title: Anyone else ever feel this way?
Post by: AustinBoston on Jul 11, 2007, 08:30 AM
Whenever we tow past some smaller vehicle towing a smaller trailer, I feel huge.  Whenever someone with a big truck pulling a travel trailer or 5th wheel goes by, I feel tiny.

I know what you mean. Sometimes, I'm afraid a big gust of wind might knock me over into that Ford Escort in the #2 lane.

Ya know........it's funny........I didn't feel that way when I towed with the Concorde. Now that I tow with the S10, I do.

The S10 is smaller than the Concorde :p

But, doesn't the driver's seat sit a couple inches higher (or more than a couple of inches)?

When we stop at rest areas on road trips the kids have gotten in the habit of calling our rig a Matchbox car.  It looks really tiny parked amongst all those tractor trailers.

Yeah the Niagara is big among Pop-ups, but I look at the big 5th wheels and motorhomes and feel like I'm a mouse about to get trampled by a heard of elephants.

Yeah, but when I'm honkin' on down the road, or stopping with the big rigs at the rest areas and even arriving at the C/G  -  with the canoe-boat lashed to the roof of the camper and a bike or two hanging on the rear of the PU  -  everyone thinks it's either one of the Beverly Hillbillies or maybe the leading vehicle for a band of Gypsies arriving, and they always seem to give me plently of room!

Sorry to make you guys feel so small. :)

Actually, I felt small at times with the Kiwi and thought I would we be over that with the new Jayco.

Nope, there is always somebody out there that will make you feel small.

All it takes is an 18 wheeler or a 36 foot fiver.

I am glad you all get lots of cleanace when you are driving with a popup attached. Obviously you are not driving anywhere near the I-95 Beltway around Washington DC - where (I swear) they zoom in front of you to see if you can stop the rig on a dime. I would love to have one of those hubcaps that Bond had that can spin out and destroy the tires on the offender trying to pass and crowd you. Can't wait to get out of this cesspool of people - way too many people crowded into this region now. I-95 is literally a parking lot on weekends.
