Title: Painted my roof today

Went out on a limb today and painted the aluminum roof on my '87 Starcraft Nova.
The previous owner had tried to reinforce the rotted out front section of the roof by bolting though from the outside, through the roof, and then through some 1x6 redwood planks on the interior of the ceiling. What a mess......
But I digress. Anyway, after I repaired the roof I was left with corrosion holes in the aluminum skin, 8 5/15" bolt holes from the redwood planks, plus a big wide white strip of that rubber tape seam sealer. It was looking pretty shabby.
Today I washed the roof good and was bummed to find what nice shape the rest of the roof and roof paint was in. I bought some paintable rubberized undercoating from NAPA and used that to try and blend the patches I'd already done to the holes in the skin.
Then I stopped by the local Sherwin Williams store and asked what they had that would work on my painted aluminum PU roof (Hey, if they developed paint to camoflage P-38 fighters during WWII, they ought to have something for my PU right?). $45 later I left with a quart of tinted oil based enamel in color #SW7719 "Fresco Cream" and a quart of their best oil based primer/bonder "XIM 400," plus a 5 pack of plastic roller pans and 2 $7 rollers.
It was literally exactly enough paint to do the roof and in about an hour I was done. I have to say, it looks pretty good and matches the color decently.
Now we'll see how well it lasts!

I agree. You do a lot of projects of various sizes, and I appreciate the photos I've seen you post, so more of them would be really cool.

As you can see in the "after" photo, I'm working on a way to clean up the ABS nose, ABS tail, ABS propane cover, and ABS spare tire cover. So far so good. After that I'll be polishing the oxidation off the sides and then sealing the whole thing with automotive wax.
