Title: picture storage websites
Post by: brainpause on Aug 02, 2007, 07:02 AM
What are the pros and cons of the picture websites such as Webshots and others? I am finding it hard to update my website like I'd like.

Cost? Ease of upload? Etc.

I use MSN Spaces.  It's easy to use and it's free.  I already had a MSN premium email account for more e-mail function and storage that I pay 20.00 a year for.  I don't know if that gives me more storage on my page or not.  And you have other options, but I only use the pictures and 1 or 2 other things. A lot of folks use webshots.

I use Picasa by Google.

I used to use Photosite, but, changed to Picasa.

Here's a link to one of my albums - Russ

Pbase is popular.  It is a paid site, but there are NO ads, it is fast, and you can use it to host your images.  You also get an on-line photo magazine.

See http://www.pbase.com/pricing.html for pricing starting at $23/year for 500 MB.  There is a free 30-day trial (10MB storage) that has no other limits on it if you want to try it out.

I love Flickr. It is easy and free unless you want the extras that are available.

I have used JAlbum-not a service, but easy to build albums for your webpage.  And it is freeware.

Link here:  JAlbum (//%22http://jalbum.net/%22)

Here are a couple of real basic examples... Albums (//%22http://www.wlfoxpost.org/pix.html%22)

avoid sites such as webshots, since they install software on your computer that is detrimental in some form.  there are plenty of sites that do not require this, as mentioned above.
