We heard from the campground today.
Joan has booked September 7th - 9th.
The cost with tax is $34.88 per night for water and electric.
The sewer dump is easily accessed.
The usual rules apply for dogs.
Fires are allowed in a closed fire pit which they rent for $12 for 2 days and $16 for 3 days. If you have one like mine it must have a screened cover to retain any sparks.
A deposit of half the total fee due is required before you arrive. Which Joan will collect. Joan will send out the paperwork to the individuals for them to sign and send in.
This is a nice campground with a large grass area in the center of the group area, and is close to the playground area.
There is plenty to do and see in the area. For more information the web site is,

Ok we
Harleywolf, FYI, I don't get on the internet from home right now, but that will change once I retire. Anyway, the more the merrier; please invite your brother and family. Please e-mail Sal at home or me here at work (//www.jlutz@dhs.ca.gov) with everyones name (parents and kids) and address so I can send the "waiver form" that this preserve needs. You don't have to worry about sending it back, just turn it in when you check in on the 7th. It's funny, we have super hosted at other preserves and every one does it differently. Your parents can go ahead and book their own reservations if they want, or give me their membership number to give to the coordinator. We will be there September 5th through the 12th. We like to get there a bit earlier than folks to make sure things are all set and try to get spaces together. We are looking at spaces 36, 37, 38, 40, and maybe 24, which are all close to the resroom so Sal, being handicapped, won't have to walk too far. I have only made reservations for 5 so if we need more, I can increase it. The preserve wants 1 night's deposit by 8/30.
As for "Ab Diver", you may know him as he has been diving for many years, and I believe he is also an instructor. Send me an e-mail here at work, or to Sal at home, and I'll tell you his name.
Glad you and your family can make it.
Joan
Kelly and I are interested in going as well - our only hesitation is we won't be getting out of the Sack-Of-Tomatoes area until 5pm... just in time to hit rush hour. That would mean we don't get there until 8-9pm...
Ugh.
Glen/Zamboni.....SO
I know, come on and join us. We will save a space for you because we will be there on Wednesday. Gwenzella has not posted here, but are interested plus the Harleywolf crew, it will be fun.
Let me know.
Joan
This park looks beautiful. Unfortunately, September-November are inventory months for Randy. He has inventory twice each month and would you believe the dates are the same as this rally and the Rompin at Rolllins rally:( .
Thank you Sal and Joan for putting this rally together.
Jacqui
GEEZZZ Jacqui, I think you and Randy need to retire like me so you have more time to do the more improtant things in life. When are we going to get to see you again? Keep trying and we will keep wagon mastering.

Glad you have confirmed because you are the only one that has. I had a PM from Grewenzilla (George) as a tentative, but have not received a confirmation from them yet. I'll list the Attendees list below this. As for planned activities, we usually just let everyone do what they want. We gather together Saturday morning, everyone just brings their breakfast to just sit and talk to everyone or you can share if you like. I usually have biscuits and sausage gravy that I share; it is not required so do what ever you wish. Then we always have a Saturday night Pot-luck dinner around 6:00. Again, if you are out sight seeing, if you make it back in time, that's fine, if not that's fine also. Even if you come late, there is always plenty of food left for you to join us. Now there has alway been a big rabble rousing when anyone starts a Pot-luck list. As Nick and others have said...."we don't need no stinking list". But, I like to do one anyway, so I'll also start that below.
As for the paperwork, that's great; just give it to the ranger when you check in, I don't have to have it to them before then.

I don't know what I did to post this twice---SORRY I can't get it to go away.
Ya forgot the saturday night bs session around the fire. I don't haul the firepit and all that wood around because it improves the gas millage in the gas hog. :)
Sal
I plan to rent a pit and bring wood for a couple of fires. We just spent 8 days at a CG with no 'caveman TV' I NEED my caveman TV!!! So we'll be having that BS session around the fire
Kelly and I are planning on coming (Fri & Sat night) - so we'll need to send you money.
I thought I had your address in a PM, but though it says I'm using 38 of my 50 messages, I have only 1 message in my inbox (and 1 in sent) -- can't seem to get to my old messages :(
Not sure what Kelly will bring for food... I rarely get much input on it... it might be something like a Mexican or Italian crock-pot-casserole.
I usually bring wood for a week. :sombraro: I have my sat. dish so I pvr the tv and watch it the next day.

That address should be valid. What waiver is it? Did we have to sign one for the other campouts we've done with you (if so, I don't remember doing it...)?
Is it too late to join in? I am trying to convince my DH to go. We are going to Olema for Labor day weekend so he thinks it's too close together.
Glen/Zamboni, I asked the same question because we didn't have to do that for the other preserves. I just signed one waiver for all of us. They all do it differently, so that's why they want a waiver for each person that comes.
teleskiermom, No it's not too late, I'll need the date of arrival and departure and for you to send me the first night deposit. PM or e-mail Sal (Calstate360) your address so I can send the waiver forms to you. Tell me how many you will need (1 for each person coming) and he will send you our address to send the check to.
I leave work at 3:45 today and tomorrow is my RDO (regular day off) so I won't be back here at work until Monday. That's why you have to PM Sal. I have to have the deposits to them by 8/31 so everyone needs to get them to me.
Glad you can make it. It will be nice to meet you.

Hey Glen glad to hear you guys are coming! Now I know our DD will have at least another lil one to play with. Joan, It looks like we are not going to be able to attend this one after all. (scheduling issues with visiting cousins, and have to work late friday night)
Thanks for hosting again... we hope to see you on the next one.
George
For those of you coming
Joan, Back up the truck on that previous post. I have just been informed that I will not be required to work the late shift on that friday (OK it took a little begging).
So with that out of the way, I'm rescheduling the cousins visit to a later date, and anticipate a late friday night arrival.
I'll get my finance department (Donna) to send you a check tomorrow. We have the releases you sent and will bring them with us to the campsite.
Looking forward to catching up.
Geo.
Glad you can make it. :-() I'll let her know when she gets home. She's sitting with the grandbrats right now.

OK Sal, how come you're not baby sitting the grand kids too?
We'll be up Friday night and it may be late depending on traffic, I'm thinking that I might try taking Highway 129 to avoid all the friday night traffic that will be on Highway 101. Does anyone know if this route is a good alternative or not?
As for the pot luck we usually bring a rice dish, but Donna's not here at the moment so keep in mind that I usually get in trouble when I try to speak for her. (but I'm 89% sure I'm right that it'll be a rice dish).
Oh, before I forget we will be there from Friday until Sunday.
Looking forward to: seeing old friends again.
and meeting new friends.
Joan/Sal - got the form today (OK, didn't check the mail yesterday!), so will send it and the check out.
I will try to do a half-day that day, so I can have the camper & truck loaded for when Kelly gets home -- so we can leave at 4:30 (yeah, bang-smack in rush hour). If that happens, we should get there by about 7:30.
I know Shelby is looking forwards to camping again - she keeps asking :)
Gwenzella (George & Donna), glad you can make it.

Oh yea, I
Well today is my last day at work (Retirement) so I may not have time to post again today. Sal and I will check the boards from home.
The only deposit I received was from Gwenzella so I had to cover for the rest of you because I had to mail the check today. So unless you have already put it in the mail and it's on it's way to me, I'll need the whole amount at the campground.
I will also help out with the Friday night meal. I can bring that good brocoli salad from Costco.

I was wondering how you handle site assignments? Is it 1st come 1st pick or do you assign by RV size or some other way?
Also my parents arrived at the CG today, I believe they are in site 65 (C section). And as it turns out my aunt and uncle are there with their 5er too. They are also TT/NACO members. Currently they are in site 51 but they said they were planning to move sites.

OK so I asked my dad today about check in and WIFI. He said the latest they like you to check in is 11pm. There is a phone box right at the ranger station you can use to call a camp host to let you in if there is no one there.
Also there is free WIFI but you have to take your laptop up to the lodge as that
Thanks for the info Rick. I certainly hope that it wasn't Sal & Joans 5'er your folks saw, that would be a real bummer.
I looked everywhere for Joans phone number but I don't think I have it, and my wife (who may have it) is asleep and I don't think I want to chance waking her because I want to keep all ten of my fingers.

I sure hope that wasn't them. They have had one problem after the other with this 5er. Everytime they try to take it out something breaks. I think they said they were going to be in the C section.

Yes, it was us, and yes, it was us that hit that darned tree! IT SUCKS! We also lost my bike on the way up and it looks like someone ran over it. We were able to go back and pick it up, but it will need some fixing. Isn't this shades of Yosmeite Lakes????
We are a couple of sites from Harleywolf's parents. The Ranger told us not to even try the B section. So we are in C section in #68.

i'm sorry but I gotta know...How did a tree branch get stuck through the roof of your 5ver?
Ok here is the deal. I hit a tree pulling into the loop due to a narrow road with a fence on one side and the tree on the other. The tree jumped out and hit the side of the 5er at the top edge where it curves into the rubber membrane. This part of the tree was about 6ft around, it was a big tree and would have been fine for a shorter rig like a hybred. Since our 5er is soo tall it got hit. The vent for the frige is on the same side and hit a normal small sized branch. This one ripped off the top of the vent and bent it to heck. Then it fell off the tree and landed next to the vent and the top of the awning. So driving down the road it looked like it was sticking out of the roof. The end result being the TV antenna will spin around without the crank, the fridge vent will have to be totally replaced, the rubber part of the roof will have to be compleatly replaced, and there is a hole in the aluminum part of the roof that will need to be repaired or replaced. And the awning is tweaked to heck.
The only good thing is we changed insurance companys a few months ago and the deductable for full covarage is only $125 instead of the $500 that it used to be. Sometimes I wonder if I was really ment to own a 5er.
Sal
Quote from: TheVikingi'm sorry but I gotta know...How did a tree branch get stuck through the roof of your 5ver?
I understand where you are coming from. Our Toy Hauler is quite a bit taller than our old TT, so I have to really pay attention to heights now. Hope everything works out for you.
In Sal
As Rick said... this is a curve going up a slight hill. The curve goes to the right (passenger side). In addition... the road itself is BANKED (up the "uphill" way").
Thus, the driver side is higher than the passenger side.
NOTE: (and this is CRITICAL) - this only happens if you go BACKWARDS into the camp area... and with these few spots, you are required to go backwards through the loop so you can pass your spot and then back your rig into your spot. We had to do the same, but our hybrid is nowhere near as large as a 5-er.
Anyhow, as you climb the hill and turn on the curve to the right, at that moment, you also BANK and LEAN to the right... this pushes the top of a 5-er INTO the huge, freaking tree. Sure, it is a nice & large & very old tree, but that darn limb that arcs out over the road, is at the nasty height of the 5-ers (but not the lowly hybrids like us).
Even with the cones on the "road", you can still die, because it is hard to tell that this road will bank your 5-er that much into the tree that seems so high up that it is irrelevant.
My vote, after seeing the damage to other rigs... is a nice, huge, bonfire. Bye-Bye Murdering Tree!
Just to clarify when Glen says backwards thru the loop he doesn
