I just called them, and found that Sept 21-22 is their closing weekend for this year. Most of the First Loop (where we stayed last time) is booked, but the "Upper Loop" is basically all available still.
The lower loop does have the more secluded sites, but if we have a nice group, then the upper loop would be a lot of fun since we can easily walk between sites.
It is a dry campground, but there are bathrooms right in the upper loop. Cost is $26/night (plus 10% tax). Includes 8 people/site (4 adults), pets $3
Is anyone interested in another Rompin' At Rollins this year, Sept 21-22?

This campout may work. Randy has inventory starting September but I don't know when. I will let you know. We enjoyed Rompin at Rollins last year. If I remember the whole campground is nice.
Well, I was hopeful but Randy has inventory that weekend. September-November is a rough camping time for us.
Jacqui
I can probably do this one. I'll have to see if I can borrow the girls from their mom that w/e, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Given how close it is for you - what about leaving Randy and you + kids come up? Or, Randy "commute" from there?

I am strongly considering taking Friday off work, and we all go up Thursday evening. Then, Kelly will drive to work Friday from there. Her school is at I-80 and Antelope, so not too bad - plus, she would come up from there Fri at 4pm, instead of having to drive to South Sac, get in camper, and go right back past her school while stuck in Rush Hour.
Then, I spend the day Friday with just me and Shelby :)
So, for those going, if anyone wants to go up Thursday... we'll be there!
Hopefully the other folks from last year's Romp will check in here:
Dee Grote
Towrod
Mustang
Chuckster
Life is starting to get more complicated. I have to take the weekend off before this for an activity that Kendra has going on. Then I am now a mother of a 16 year old who now has a drivers license and a part time job. Whcih now makes me insurance poor which makes we need to go to work:( . And to think you want them to grow up. All growing up means to me is $$$$ signs.:)

OK... if, I posit, this attendance of yours will ensure that your child does not die :)
Quote from: OC Campersmother of a 16 year old who now has a drivers license and a part time job.
Now, I'm confused. If she has a license, she can drive herself to her "activity"! :D If you need to attend with her, then save your money and cancel her license & insurance.
Wow, I crack myself up. I'm sure my wife will make me eat my words in 13 years when our daughter gets her own license... Until then, I will firmly fool myself into believing things are like they were when I grew up -- you got yourself there (un-motorized), or did not attend :eyecrazy:
****************
Lastly, and I'll admit this is a BIZARRE suggestion... if your family wants to attend (OK, I know kids never want to do anything...), and your absence for work would only be the day or evening, then if you came with your rig & crew, we (ie, me, because Kelly would say "You suggested it, so you own it") would look after your kids for Sat day or evening while you worked. Just a thought, because I'm sure Shelby's understanding would be that everyone exists only to keep her amused! :sombraro:
Glen, Glen, Glen. You try telling a 16 year old she can't drive. Yeah right! The only reason I need to go to the activity with her is because it is down in Natomas. If she drove all the way down there I would be a nervous wreck. BTW, thanks for letting her drive the "stang" now she wants one. NOT!!:yikes: :D
I know the boys would enjoy the weekend and I definately trust you with them but it is an aweful lot of wotk for me not to spend a lot of time there.:(

With an offer like that Glen, it sure is tempting to drop off our 4 kids, and let Margaret and I dissapear, working.... or wine tasting.... or whatever......
Sadly we cannot make it that weekend.
I will be off camping with the two youngest boys with Y-Guides.
Then the following weekend, it is camping again with the oldest boy!!
Have a great time, and hopefully we will catch up with you at a future rally.
Y-Guides?? Is this perhaps the same thing that I knew as a kid as Y Indian Guides? If so I didn
Yes Rick,
Y-Guides is the program run by the YMCA formerly known as Y Indian Guides.
They had to drop the reference to Indian, due to objections and it not being politically correct, but the program remains pretty much the same with father/son and father/daughter groups.

Since many are busy, would people rather try for Sept 14-15?
Works for me. Saves me having to ask for the girls, since its daddy weekend anyway, and the following weekend is Megan's birthday weekend and she might have other plans. I'm down for either weekend though.
I will check and see whats going on. Kendra has her appointment but maybe we can trust her to get there on her own. :yikes: She would also have to stay at home by herself for a night or 2 (she has a big girl job now too.:yikes: :yikes: (double yikes)) How much freedon is too much freedom for a responsible 16 y/o??
Jacqui
My brother and I were frequently trusted to spend the weekend alone from when I was 12 and he 14. Once, at 14 & 16, my parents were gone 5 days on a business trip (summer, neighbors "checked in" on us).
So, I'd say that at 16, she should definitely start being trusted :)
Of course, being the oldest, she's going to be the one to work hardest to "break the bonds". By the time the next is her age, you'll probably have no concern temporarily abandoning him any chance you can get!
Ok, I talked to Randy and if you are able to change the date to Sept 14 and 15 we will be there. Yippee!!
Jacqui
I will call tomorrow from work, and guarantee 3 sites for the weekend (us, 3 nites, as we'll arrive Thursday).
More, please?

Any luck changing the weekend Glen??
Booked Sept 14-15!
We are on the First Loop (where we stayed last time, which is peaceful). I've paid the first night ($28.60) for each of the 3 sites, the balance paid by each on arrival.
Kelly and I will be arriving Thursday night, with me taking Friday off work and Kelly commuting from there.
Sites:
Zamboni: 21
OC Campers: 22
Flyer Crew: 23
http://penresort.com/iconMap.html
Several sites on the First Loop are still available, so let's find others! I'll also post this in the other thread.
Sounds good to me. See ya then.
Jacqui
Slight change of plan.
We won't be able to come out until Friday evening.
I'm taking Friday off, but have to do a deposition-sort-of-thing at 1:30... bang smack in the middle of the day. We could still go up Thurs night, but I will be spending the evening Thurs preparing.

No problem. We will be there eveningish too. How does check in work. Can we check in without you there? If you need to get ahold of us, call Randy's cell phone. I lost mine a few days ago. PM me if you need it
Jacqui
Your names should be on their record. I paid the first night, so you just pay the balance when you check in.
I don't know whose celly I have - ends with "even#-even#-7-6". If that's not Randy's, then would you send it to me?
I'm pretty sure you have mine. It is easy to find - my home answering machine (and I am in the phone book) has my celly on it :)
I get frustrated/amused when people tell me "I wanted to call you, but I couldn't find your number" (uh, directory information? Same number for the last 13 years... same cell for 10) :swear:

How funny is that.... I say the same thing not to mention I have had the same e-mail address since 1994 or 1996 and my cell number has been the same for about 8 or 9 years
BTW that number is Jacqui's
Yes, that number is mine. But no cell phone yet. Randy's is the same but last 2 numbers is 75. But guess what?? He lost his yesterday too. Boy, we are quite the pair. Only way to get ahold of us is at home. You don't realize how important your cell is until you don't have it.:(

What a relaxing weekend! I sure enjoyed it... Thanks Glen, for arranging it and thanks Matt and Chris for being my squirt gun targets. :yikes: :D
We made it home safe and sound. I love camping an hour away from home:D . We had a great time as usual. Weather was gorgeous. Company was exceptional too.
No problem Kevin, you made the boys weekend. I gave up on Chris' shoes and just thru them in the trash. (I have been wanting to do that for weeks now but he wouldn't let me).
Project for tomorrow is camping laundry and dog washing. Bella still has that "orange glow":D . Nothing that a good cleaning won't do.

eeeww camping laundry....ya my favorite
I was getting a mental picture of Chris' shoes...ack
For 6th , 7th & 8th, Kevin would go to camp pali and on thursday they would build rafts and go into this pond. well the first year I opened up the suitcase and about fell over and threw them in the trash..after that I told him don't bother toss them in the trash there. That's why they had to bring an extra pair of shoes. :eyecrazy:
why is your dog orange?

There is nothing else worse than camping laundry. This trip it was so bad I just left it in the garage to sort it. This campground was really pretty but the dirt is that orange "clay" dirt. Everything is orange and really nasty.
Bella and Zambonie's dog "Jack" were playing. Bella is small and 20 lbs, Jack is HUGE and 100+ lbs. Needless to say Bella spent a lot of time rolling in the dirt. Any white fur parts are now orange. We thru her in the lake but all it did smear it around. She will be getting a bath in the next few minutes.:p

Believe it or not, he's only about 65 lbs. Boomer was 110 lbs...

OK, he just looks 100 lbx. Dang, when the dog stands on his hind legs, I think he could put his paws on my shoulders:rolleyes: :D
Glen, did you check on the weekend of 10/15?
Oh yeah -I knew there was something I had to respond about.
Our Starcraft's Petaluma campout is Oct 19-21, so we're good for the weekend before (10/15 is actually Monday....!)
Here's our Starcraft campouts if anyone is interested... specifically, our club has their big "Turkey campout" in Lodi, where they grill turkeys all day long, etc. As members, we are allowed to bring guests (if there is space available).
