Lotust,
Nice looking PUP. Looks like a great place to camp too.
I'm new to this too but I would say that a dealer can get you the parts that you need. You also may be able to order them online direct from the company.
Good luck with it.
Hello,
Good luck with your pu. It looks good, almost as good as mine. Our pu's are very similar. I have a 91 Starcraft Starmaster my box is 12' opens to 24'.It used to have a shower but I opted to take it out for more space. Let me know if I can tell you anything about my pu.

Yeah I was actually thinking about removing the shower too. Its kinda a waste for us. I would rather shower outdoors or in a campground shower ect..
Was it truckey to do ? Did you leave the potty there and just leave the OSB material on the floor?
thanks
Nice PU. Where in the Catskills were you camping? We (COTOC) go to North South Lake campground the first weekend in May each spring. That is the opening weekend of the campground.:)
Man that's in nice shape! Mine is an '87 "Nova". 11' box and very similar to yours with the ABS front and back panels, spare tire and propane covers. No shower/potti combo in ours though as that only came on the "Constellation" model back then. I'm also glad we don't have it, because I like dinette off to the side so we don't have to crawl over it getting in and out of bed. We bring a little Thetford Porta-potti and that takes up very little space.
I can tell you first hand that StarcraftRV is a great company to deal with. Their parts dept. and customer service are outstanding. When I need something, I call them directly and we either get the part we need, or a current part that is the same or close enough to work.
If your fender plastic is cracked, and not missing pieces, glue it front behind with Marine Glue. That stuff is amazing. Then paint with the new Krylon paint for plastics if you want the outside to be whitened up.
These models like to leak terrible around the metal trim on the roof. Go out of your way to reseal every single seam and really watch since you've got roof A/C. The roof is aluminum skin glued to chip board (OSB). Once water gets in, the chip board swells up, becomes a sponge and then turns into wood pulp. The ceiling is 1/8" Luan plywood glued to 1" thick styrofoam panels with a 1x1 right down the middle, 1x1 frame around the A/C opening. Get water into the styrofoam and then sit back and watch the Luan blister and peel the vinyl wallpaper ceiling right off.
The other big leak source is directly down the telescoping metal roof poles. Earlier models had canvas flaps that velcro'd on over these to protect them. Mine and on through yours don't. Water runs down the poles and if the black rubber gaskets at the top of the box leak, then your corners and floor corners rot just like the OSB in the roof. Check your gaskets and make new ones out of tire inner tube material, etc. Most hardware stores carry different thickness sheets of black rubber that are excellent for making new gaskets for these areas.
Enjoy!!
Oh, here's a glamor shot of mine on our maiden voyage in August.

Hi,
Yes the space worked for us. We also prefer to shower in campground but others have different opinions (tlhdoc) on inside showers. What kind of potty is in there? With that access door I was wondering if it's a cassette type. The only thing was the shower in mine which was relatively easy to remove. I had to be creative with the plumbing I removed though. I was reluctant to remove the plumbing for the water, I capped it at the source. I was hoping to make an outside shower and still might. I sealed the drain hole from the underside of the camper with plywood the same thickness as the pu floor. I opted to use the space I created for more cabinet and counter space and a storage area for my thetford pota-potti that can slide out for use when needed. It worked out great for us but I won't take credit for all the ideas though. I got most of my thoughts from this board. I'll try to post some pictures.
Lotust ~ that's a good looking PU for 16 years old. Looks like there's a lot of life left left in it for many more outings.
If you live 50 miles from a Starcraft dealer you can buy directly from Starcraft, although you'll pay list price and there's UPS charges, too. Give their parts dept a call and they just might have the part in stock ... (who knows?) - Anyway, you'll find the Starcraft folks are the best to deal with and their tech services department is always ready to help with advice and that's free of charge. In this era of manufacturing fleeing the country to either Mexico or "the land of rice and everything nice", very refreshing. Starcraft acts like and treats you, like they appreciate your owning one of their products.

Couldn't agree more. The folks in Parts have sent one of the guys back to take digital photos of parts and then emailed them to me so we could make sure what they had would work for my application. Never once have I been treated like some knucklehead who bought a 20 year old $250 junk camper. They treat me like I just popped for their biggest, newest model. When I get my parts, there's a packing slip containing the actual signatures of every person who had their hands on my order.
Like Fly says, in this day and age of Hecho en Mexico, Walmart in China, and tech support from "Robert" or "Mary" in New Delhi, India, Starcraft is pretty amazing.
If you have some spare time, read online about the story of the company, it's bankruptcy in 1990/91, being sold to a private investor, and how he's turned them completely around. Pretty cool.

But that was not the orginal family that went belly up, that was a corporation that bought out the entire Starcraft works just to get the boat/marine end of it. And it was the marine end of the operation that got into trouble. The grandson of the orginal founder finally bought back the corporation and he's into Starcraft boats just like his father was ... did'nt want the RV end of it so he sold that to an old family friend, Jayco.
A former Starcraft retired plant manager has a place right over here on Ocean Isle Beach, who I get to chat with every now and again.

I think that's interesting. I'm going to look it up. I'm very happy with my Starcraft it's treating my family well. Although I do give it TLC, I find it was put together well. I know some people that have various models that are newer, much newer and they have problems I'm surprised at.
Austinado16 your pu looks great in your glamor shot. Has your pu seen any freezing/snow winters? Are you in S. Cal?

This is my first ever PUP, so I'm new to the whole thing. It was in pretty bad shape when I bought it in February for $250 from a soup kitchen/thrift store/donation center in Fremont, CA. I didn't even know how to open it when I went to look at it!
But I agree, definately a very well built camper, eventhough I laugh sometimes at how it's built......for a PUP, it's actually very good quality. A few months ago I scored a rotted out '83 that I needed the stove, fridge and table out of. It was even better made than my '87. The bunk plywood was clad with aluminum on both sides, and was about 3/4" thick. My bunks are only 1/2" bare plywood.
I'm in Central CA, on the coast. We've only done 2 trips in ours, in August and both in pretty hot weather. Haven't even got to do any Fall camping yet.
Thanks for the replys everyone. I will call starcraft up and see about getting the replacement parts.

I'm still interested in what kind of potti is in your pu. Is it combined with the shower? Also what are the access doors used for?
I would like to know what campground that was.

Its the cassette type. The flusher is not working. But its not a bid deal. There is a door for the hot water heater, fridge, and potty,2 storage doors, I think thats all.

It was north south lake in Tannersville, NY 12485
