Title: New TV
Post by: robpoe on Dec 24, 2007, 02:06 AM
Well, I ended up ditching the 4Runner and getting an 04 Honda Pilot.

I really like the truck a lot, and it will tow up to 3500 lbs (4500 if it's a boat, wonder what the difference is?).

Just gotta get the tow package stuff for it (PS and AT coolers), as well as a hitch and the wiring box.

I learned today how much room the Pilot has over the 4Runner.  I used to struggle getting the kid's bike in the back of the Runner.  Today I bought him a new mountain bike (shhh, don't tell him!) and just flipped the seats down, tossed it in the back, no problem.  :)

Congrats on the "new" '04 Honda! What kind of an engine does it have?

That's a new one on me, too; a 3500 lb tow rating except for a boat and then that makes it 4500 ... must be boats are not weighed the same! (LOL)

That must only pertain to while you are towing it in the water  :p .

It's a 3.5L V-6  with VTEC..

Same engine as in the Acura MDX, or from what I understand, anyway :)

It's got a lot of giddyup and go, thats for sure (though I don't giddy up and go often).

From what I have understood:

Boat trailer weight balance is different compared to an RV.
They're somewhat more aerodynamic
They come with surge brakes

It's more of a truck than, say, an Accord ;)

Or my Goldwing :)
