Being fairly new to all of this may I ask what the advantage of calling Reservamerica as opposed to calling the place directly?

Pretty much every California state park and National Forest campground reservation must be made thru Reserve America.  If you try to arrive at the state cg's without reservations you most likely will not get a site.

If you call the place directly, there are probably hundreds of others doing the same thing at exactly 8:00 a.m., so you might get a "circuit is overloaded", or busy signal.  Assuming you do get through, the person at the other end is accessing the same computer database that everyone on the internet has access to.

Your best bet is to have all your family and friends with FAST fiber optic/cable/DSL internet access to reserve specific spots all at the same time.  They should be logged in by 7:45 a.m. and have the specific campsite on their screen.  At exactly 8:00 a.m. they press the Enter key and the fastest keystroke, (and associated internet access), wins!:D

This whole thing is rediculous.  I mean about how hard it is to get a site at some places.  And does anyone else besides me get lost in that darn reserve america site?

I'm gonna start looking harder for the hidden spots, hereafter referred to as (H spots).  You know what I mean.  The places off the beaten path.  I'll let you all know what I find.  Maybe I'll start a new thread on this topic.

I'm thinking about starting my quest for by using my California Camping book by Tom Stienstra.  He labels H spots which are only visited  by 5% of people, for various reasons like being hard to get to and so on.

Ya but then if you tell everyone then the won't be hidden anymore. I will be interested to hear what you find though.

Since this is my first full year with the pup can anyone here in AZ tell me if we have trouble finding spots here. So far I haven't had any problem at all. The SP's are first come first serve for the most part. I plan on getting the permit ($15 for the year) from the AZ State Land Department which will let me camp on their land for the year.
