Title: 98 Coleman Sea Pine
Post by: spearmint on Mar 29, 2008, 03:32 PM
Does anyone know if a 1998 Sea Pine belonged to the Destiny series or the Grand Tour series back then? From what I can find, Coleman kept changing which series it belonged to. I am asking because I am trying to figure out if it is an ABS roof or not.

ABS roof.

Actually, the series didn't necessarily determine the roof.  In the early years they put the ABS roof on Destiny series trailers also.

But, the Sea Pine was a Grand Tour then.....

I still have an '00 Coleman/Fleetwood brochure and it shows the Sea Pine as being in the Grand Tour series and having the ABS roof ~ and the Destiny series with aluminum.

Also, I had a '96 Coleman/Fleetwood "Yukon" which was a Grand Tour series model and the first year for the ABS roofs. The Destiny series sported the aluminum roofs for that year and so far as I know always did.

Yes, the problem is that from looking in NADAGuides online, it appears that the Sea Pine was built in the Grand Tour series for some years and in the Destiny series for others so I have been trying to determine which it was built in for 1998. According to NADA it is the Destiny series but I am not sure that is true because the 98 Sea Pine I have in mind has the nice quilted mattresses which were only in the Grand Tour series, I believe.

It certainly does look like it was upgraded. It's sorta like some of these PU manufacturer's constantly switchy-changey model names and series to keep us all guessing from year to year!

I've seen a vast difference in the same named products that were available to different part of North America in the same model years by most manufacturers.  I've been told by industry people that it is due to regional marketing and still takes place.  I've also been told that if you want some of those options and amenities the only way to get them is buy them from a dealer in those regions.  They will not make and ship them even on special orders for the other regions.  Kind of strange to me, but thats what I've been told.
