Title: fishing boat with Pop up
Post by: fire943 on Apr 27, 2008, 02:47 PM
I am indecisive about the jon boat or canoe route.  I would have to two boys with me.  I would use a electric trolling motor and mostly fish.  The TV has the bikes on the roof (not an option).  I will have to travel with the boat on the roof of the PUP.  I have AC which is in the middle of the PUP.

we use pro rac on the pup and canoe on the TV.  I am not sure why bikes not on pup is not an option for you.  Seems like A/C will give you issues with a boat.  There are other roof top bike systems that straddle the A/C as well.

because we have already invested in the roof rack system for the bikes on the TV and five bikes would be too much weight...so it cant be an option

This is what I'm most generally carrying on the roof of my Starcraft. I use the foam carrying blocks (which fit over the gunnels of the boat), which sometimes serve a double purose .. you can then use them on the roof of a vehicle.

Might give you some ideas. The great thing about the Raddison is they are light.

I kinda like those Canoes myself .. have a 14ft canoe model (not flatback).  Its nice and light like "flyfisher" says and is easy to load ...either on your TT or Tow'er.  For me its the perfect fishin' machine ... quiet, flat and wide ... and very stable.  I've tried to flip it ... i really dont think you can from the middle .. honestly.. you end up in the drink before the canoe flips.

Just stick a 40lb thrust electric motor on it and your off to the races ..
