Title: Raised Oak panel fridge door insert
Post by: campnagle on May 15, 2008, 01:17 PM
Raised oak door insert from salvage for $25, very easy to change out. A little lemon oil and a whole new look to the gally. ;)

Looks really great..adds a bit of class to your galley. Be careful of a lemon oil or tung oil finish on wood around moisture from the fridge. If it gets into the oak panel it will turn dark. I have always used clear urethane varnish on wood surfaces that might be exposed to moisture for this reason..A satin or flat finish, depending on your likes, looks really great and seals the grain in the wood and keeps the moisture out. It is also a very durable finish and will last a long time..Your panel should be OK as long as the door gasket remains tight....

Next project, raised panel cabinet doors??.....
