pat, If possible get there early and ask for a shaded site.  There are some nice ones as well as some that are exposed to the sun.  The other thing to note is that there will be some severe winds around 2 am each day.  If you have a awning you might want to roll it up before you go to bed or at least make sure it is secure.  Here are some pictures (http://he-ruide.smugmug.com/gallery/4615121_qa5Kx#P-1-9)  of the campground.

Hope this helps.

Ruide

PS there are lots of things to do at Zion so you might want to look at these other photo galleries (http://he-ruide.smugmug.com/Utah%20National%20Parks/382101) .

I tent camped there a few years ago when I only had a small tent.  I thought that it was just the time of year that I was visiting, but I do remember it being very windy in the dark morning before sun up.
Is it just the canyon exhaling the wind that is generated by the night air cooling it down?
I thought that my tent was going to blow off the site where I was but I not under any trees that I can recall for shelter.

How was the trip?  We are headed that way next week.  Bryce, then Zion. Was it hard to get in?  No reservations, right?
