We're also looking forward to the Rally and the Poconos.
I believe it's just a couple of weeks away.

Cherly, How's the new camper and tv. I can't wait to see it. Who's having more fun with it you or Bob?

My mother has been enjoying the new Trailer more than anyone when she visits. It is her new guest condo and she loves it! We have only had time for one short camp out so far but it was sooooo Cooool!! We loved all the extra room. Our next trip is this coming week to Ocean City, Md. and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm only a little worried about the towing and manueverability (SP?). Between the 20 foot truck and the 34 foot trailer, I'm verrrryyyy nervous!
Can't wait to show my friends (old and new) the new toys at the rally!

Cheryl, Nervous would NOT be the word you and your honey are soooooo brave. When we went to an extended cab pickup, getting around the house became even more of a challenge...we have an addition and 3 sheds with a drive in between, so I cannot imagine a 34' trailer and a 20' truck (our drive is a circle drive that runs between two streets, we live on a corner lot and the house is catty-cornered on the lot, so we have a huge (for a subdivision built in the late 40's) front and side yard, but little back yard, it is all drive and sheds). The Cabin A gets backed into the double drive far enough to the left that I can easily pull the Bantam through the gate and (no so easily) around to the back of the house, open the other gate, pull up and back to straighten and no black Raymond's shed with the lawn tractor, he has to get that out.

I will not be too too far from you this weekend. I will be in Northern VA in the Delmarva about 20 miutes from Chincoteague.  It is now up in the air if Raymond is joining me or not.

21 days officially....I will be there in 19!!!

Oh btw, bring change.

Keen Lake offers 300 varied sites scattered on 90 acres in a cluster principal to preserve the natural beauty and to avoid overcrowding. Three bathhouses with coin-operated showers are conveniently located throughout the campground.

Thanks for the tip on the change. Have you had the opportunity to camp there before?
Looking forward to seeing you and everyone.

Nope, never camped there, just scouring the web-site looking for interesting things and stumbled on this.

Pequea creek in PA has pay showers in the campground.

If I count correctly (which is not a given! LOL) there will be 11 families at the Rally in the Poconos. Dee and Tracy are unable to make this one and have asked me to finish organizing what needs to be organized. With 18 days left I'm not sure I will have the time to organize a going away breakfast, which has traditionally been on Friday morning. Any other ideas/options? I will be contacting the campground to see about firewood for the group and a pavilion/room for a potluck supper on Monday or Tuesday eve. Do we still want to have a silent auction or does everyone just want to chip in for the cost of the firewood? Anything else I should ask about/try to arrange?

Hi Cheryl & everybody,
If there's any interest in T-shirts I'd be happy to try to put something quick together with a T-shirt vendor I know if possible. I'll start another post for sizes if I see some feedback.

Did that when I was young, bathed in the Withlacoochee River. Where we camped did not have a bath house, just a covered "man" latrine and a covered "woman" one and a hand pump...brown water (tannic acid from the cypress trees), gatora and snakes...that was living.

We expect to come but dates are still up in the air as Kels has HS sports obligations that she's trying to get out of. Coaches haven't given her the ok yet so it's very frustrating.

Given the late timing, Cheryl, why don't we just go low key with the events, etc. You don't need to make yourself nuts. This rally can be a long, long weekend of hanging out. Sometimes it's nice to do nothing special. Of course, people are free to go off and be busy on their own. No need for you to stress out. I'll be happy to chip in for firewood.

Hi Dee,
I've missed you on the site but know that you have been very busy.
As far as the rally goes, we will definitely miss you and your gang! Hope you can make it next year.
As posted on the other thread (Schedule of events) I think we are going low key this year. A lot of hanging out around the campfire and of course the Potluck and a 50/50 to help pay for the firewood. I like "KISS" camping!!!!!!!
Hope all is well and that we see you soon,
Cheryl

14 days and counting the Pop-Up Times Eastern Rally.
Or should it be unofficially dubbed the "KISS Rally"?

That schedule works for us.

Thanks again for all your efforts, Cheryl.
And thanks to Dee and Tracy for searching it out.

Cheryl I know you had the rally dumped on you in early June,  sorry about that.  The restaurant near the campground does have good reasonably priced food if something can't be set up in the campground.  :)

Tracy and Dee,
Forgettaboutit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Life happens and I totally understand. I'm majorly bummed that you two will miss the Rally. We will burn a few logs and raise a "toast" (or two or three LOL) for the two of you. Take care of your families (they come first) and we will see ya next year! Any input on areas of interest for next year?
See ya soon,

Paula, yes they have motors, but they are not going to be used in the lake at the campground. Near by lake Walempalpack (spelling) has plenty of room for jet skis.:)

Hi Paula,
It is my understanding that non-motorized craft are allowed at Keen Lake.
The personal water craft that we are bringing will be used on Lake Wallenpaupack as often as they can get them over there. It is about a 30 minute ride from the camp ground so is closer than some of the places that DH takes his toy to from home. I really don't expect to see much of him at all the whole week, in the daytime anyway. I will have my own run around vehicle (my new-to-me Expedition) and plan to find lots of fun shopping spots and places of interest to visit.
Hope everyone has a great 4th!!!!!!!
Cheryl

When I was a child, my family had a vacation home near Lake Wallenpaupak. That's where I learned to waterski. It wasn't as busy back then as it is now. I hope to get over there one day to visit my uncle.

If I remember correctly, we used to go in to Honesdale to the drive in - also to do our laundry before we finally got a washer/dryer. I think there was a real five and dime store. Hawley was a really little country town with delicious sticky buns and the yearly county fair (chasing greased pigs and all that stuff).

Bet it's all changed :(

Whewwww thanks for the clarification. You all had me doing an "Are they nuts" thing...the lake is little bitty (for motorized water craft), about 3 x the size of RJ Ranch lake, maybe 4 X, that was why i was a wondering how you all were going to manuver in such tight corners,  anything over a 1 horse would probably be too big.

The only shopping I know is the Wyoming Valley Mall (Wilkes Barre) and that has been years so I won't be much help.  Raymond's one daughter went to job corps near Hazleton and Shannon went to the Red Rock Job Corps (Ricketts Glen), so we were around the area a lot YEARS ago.  Shannon is 28, Sharon is almost 38.

I just realized today that I left my tool box in the Cabin A and that is in storage at Tall Pines Harbor...Raymond is going to round some things up for me out of his work shed...you think I have multiples...

I'll see you all on Sunday!

I called and they have WIFI that should reach the campsite...not entirely happy about that. I was made lead on a project today that is to be done in 2 weeks...she DOES realize I will be on Vacation next week and out to a Conference in Philly three days the following week, but she insists I am the person for the job...so have lap top will travel so I can stay in touch with my co-workers and get the material that will come my way on MOnday to Divvie up...and keep the coworkers working on it, needless to say I AM NOT HAPPY.

Am packing the camper now, just taking a break.  Will not leave until tomorrow and I think I will be coming through Reading, so if anyone needs anything at all from Cabelas, speak now. It is on my way. We were not going to stop, but if anyone needs anything, let me know and we can go up the hill.
There is a good Chinese Buffet in the Mall between Pottsville and St. Clair, I am planning on having lunch there tomorrow.

PA 61 to I 81 at Frackville.  Then north.  It is a better drive for me, not as taxing on the motor as going up the NE Extention. between Allentown and I 80 is a nasty long grade that always slows me down a lot and makes the engine groan. Remember I am not taking the Cabin A, this is the Bantam FULLY loaded as well as being heavy, it also has a whole lot of wind resistance.  The slower and less hilly 61 is better for me (gas and toll wise). The truck is not as loaded this time (with drawers) and will be storing three of the drawers in the shed.  I left a lot of stuff with the Cabin A at Tall Pines harbor.  Actually if I caught 443 to 309, that is even closer coming this way.
