Title: Coleman pop up roof corner cap
Post by: trishy on Jun 10, 2008, 09:54 AM
I have a 1989 Coleman that is in great shape, but I need to replace one of the corner caps.  I am asking everywhere to see if anyone knows where I can find this part.  I've called around locally and nobody seems to know.

TIA

Trishy

Is yours completely missing or broken?

If broken, for the time being, repair it.

If missing, maybe for the time being, replace it with a piece of well placed and shaped "Eternabond Tape."  That'll buy you some time to hunt around, and your camper won't look too bad either.

Over on //www.popupportal.com you may find someone in the Coleman parts section who's got one?  Also, if you do a google search, there are RV/Camper wrecking yards that might have one.

As a last ditch effort, you could probably do a pretty good job of making one by simply buying a fiberglass repair kit from the hardward store and wearing gloves, you could probably come pretty close once it was sanded, primed and painted.  Fiberglass dries in just a few minutes, so you'd be able get some fast results.

I have a mid 80's Columbia and the guy at my local rv dealer parts desk said that a lot of the corner caps were the same. He mentioned that you may have to trim in some cases - but I didnt have to. They did stick me for about $50 for a set of 4

Also to make things easier, make sure the caps are not your primary source of sealing. Wrap that corner with tape and seal before the cap goes on -- easier to seal the corner than all around that cap
