Title: Tow Vehicle Trailer Wiring
Post by: DC on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
It looks like we will be getting a 00  Merc Mountaineer for my wifes new vehicle.  Trading in an ol 92 Jeep Cherokee.  This Merc is a V8 AWD.

Does anyone know how tough it is to wire it for my camper?  It has the " towing"  package....which consists of a bumper hitch and a 4 pin trailer connector.  My 00  F150 Towing Package came with a " real"  receiver hitch and a 7 pin trailer connector, which is what my camper uses.

I want trailer brakes so I need to hook up a 7 pin connector to my Merc.  Is this a problem?  I know the 7 pin harness form Ford is about $200.  Has anyone put one of these in?  Or should I have the dealer do it?  Tried to have then throw it in with the deal, but won t happen.

 Thanks,
