Title: Table leg end caps
Post by: Mike Up on Sep 27, 2008, 11:28 AM
My PUP's kitchen table has those white plastic leg end caps, and they are all cracking. I'm worried they'll come off and the sharp steel edges of the table legs will mar the the flooring.

I haven't been able to find these anywhere. Anyone know where they can be purchased???

Thanks and have a good one.

You can buy "crutch tips" at Wal-Mart which are a white rubber and will not crack as easily as the original plastic ones and they will last much longer. They come in several different diameters. Be sure to measure an old one so you will know what size to buy. I have used these on several tables over the years and never had a problem..Table won't slide as easily on the floor with the rubber crutch tips but sometimes this can be a plus....

I have had just the opposite luck with the rubber crutch tips instead of the plastic caps, the rubber ones seem to crack sooner than the plastic ones. Anyhow, you can also find the plastic ones at most Walmart stores. Also Ace hardware or True Valu stores should have them, they do around here. Best if you can to take an old one along to compare size with since they come in many sizes. If you have a Farm & Fleet store in the area they also have them.

I couldn't find hard plastic caps that fit but did find the rubber tips from Lowes and they fit perfect. Thanks everyone.

I just wrapped some duct tape around them.  Ugly, but works  :p
Good to know of alternatives when I get around to replacing them.
