The 2009 Coleman Camping Trailer brochure is finalized and copies should be sent to the dealers soon. The PDF file will be available once the new web site is up.
In the mean time I scanned all 20 pages and you can access the brochure at my SmugMug site (http://he-ruide.smugmug.com/gallery/6164237_Nha5k#388457740_4w7mL). The best way to view each page is using the X3 large photo size. You might want to print pages 12 and 13 so you can compare the demensions and capacities of the Highlander, Americana, Americana LE and Destiny series.

Hey, that was a lot of work. Thanks for making it available to the forum. Looks like the same specs on the Highlanders as in in previous years. Thanks again.
Thanks Ruide
I can not get to any of the pictures. How do I bring them up? Thanks Mark

Mark, you should only have to double click on the
access the brochure at my SmugMug site phrase here or in my orginal post and that will bring up the pictures. What happens when you click on the link?

I don't care who you are, or what your favorite brand of camper is.
It is GREAT to see "COLEMAN" on campers again. I thought it was a sad day when the courts basically ruled that for perpetuity, we would never see Coleman on a camper again.
(I know, I know. Don't lecture me about how Coleman isn't the manufacturer, but only a name.)

It takes me to SumgMug with out pictures. Just a gray screen with picture info on it. If I click your albums they come up. If I click on any of them it goes back to the gray enter screen. I must not be doing something right. Thanks Mark
Nice job. Interesting way to post pics. Haven't seen that before.
I have one question about the options for these new Coleman trailers..... I didn't see one word about Air Conditioners or being air conditioner ready. I will admit that I didn't look at every word on every page, but a/c was clearly not listed on the Options page.
Any word on a/c for these units?
Air-ready framing/bracing is a standard feature on the campers, listed on the page with the standard and optional features. Air is always a dealer-installed option so they may not list it in the options at all.
Thank you very much for taking the time to do this project.
For the highwall series, they made some mention of outside storage access by the slide. Anyone know what they did? Pics?

Mark, I think something may be wrong with your browser set up. Anyway you can send my a PM with your email address and I'll send you the photographs.

Folks,
There were a number of questions that were asked here and in other discussion groups regarding the new Coleman Trailers brochure. I've gotten answers from FTCA and hope this explains some of the differences between this year's brochure and previous brochures.

Question: Both the Mesa and Sun Valley are listed at the same closed length of 19'2" but shouldn't the Sun Valley be 2' shorter (it was 17' 2" last year.
Answer: It should have been 17'2". That was a misprint.
Question: Is it true that the dinette/bed for the Mesa and Sun Valley models are different sizes (71"x 43" versus 66"x41")?
Answer: The dinette/bed for the Mesa and the Sun Valley should be (66"x41")
Question: Page 8 top left corner suggest that the Avalon, Niagrara and Saratoga all have solidwall bathrooms but the Saratoga has either a cabinet or cassatte potti.
Answer: Yes, it probably should say Except Saratoga. Wanted to show them that one was available.
Question: Page 9 top left corner suggest that all the Americana series have full bathroom when that is only true for the Utah. The Bayside comes with either a cabinet or cassette potti and the Mesa doesn't have anything.
Answer: Yes, but it does show what it will look like with the Cassette Potti or the Cassette Potti/Shower Model. It should say except Mesa.
Question: Page 14 top left corner suggest that all the Evolution series have full bathroom, however the Cobalt doesn't have anything and the E4 has a hard wall.
Answer: Yes, but again it just shows what the bathroom will look like in the E2 and E3, so they get an idea. It should say except Cobalt, E1, and E4. We just wanted to give them a look at what the bathroom would look like and so they know it is available.
Question: The Highlanders have increased in dry weight Avalon (90 lbs) Niagara (109 lbs) and Saratoga (60 lbs) while the Gross vehicle weight ratings are still the same. So folks are asking where did the extra weight come from?
Answer: The Highlander Series have increased in weights due new step and the power lift motor being a standard feature and the different motor used from this year to last year. Also, other materials change as well and in turn changes the weight of the final product.
Question: It looks as if the 2009 Westlake gained 20 lbs dry weight. A difference seems to be that this years model has a stepper door. Last year's Westlake had the cassette potti and shower as standard. However, the 2009 floor plan on page 13 shows just a cabinet and the cassette potti or cassette potti and shower as options. So shouldn't the 2009 base unit with the stepper door be lighter than last year's?
Answer: For the Westlake we just published the heaviest configuration and last year it was the lightest. An error on our part.
Question: The Cobalt gained 25 lbs, the E1 120 lbs, the E2 has gained a wopping 160 lbs and the E3 only 65 lbs. The E4 did not change. Are we going to have to put the Coleman Camping trailers on a diet?
Answer: The same thing here is just the difference in materials and the new features like the Krystal Kote body panels, wall paneling, countertops, etc. that make the weights slightly higher.
Hey all!
I just looked quickly, and I didn't see the Tacoma? I guess my latest PU is a one year oddity... lol
Maybe FTCA/Coleman should ask this and other discussion groups to do their job of proofing the brochure!
I think FTCA owes all those that question their errors and misprints a thank you for finding errors for them (just by questioning the info!). Wonder what would have resulted if the 'community' actually took on the task of proofing. Also wonder about the accuracy of information that FTCA/Coleman puts out in the future or past.
Kinda sloppy work. :yikes:
Coach,
I did get a thank you note from FTCA and yes I did offer in the future that we could help in reviewing their brochures.
They confessed that while there were a lot of folks that proof read the brochure they were embarrassed and apologized that so many items were missed. I suspect that with all the models, configuration and options it is difficult to put together a brochure that accurately captures everything.
The good news is that with all the changes they have undergone in the last year they still have is a loyal group of owners that will spend the effort to provide feedback aimed at continuing improvement.
Take care.

Sorry....that's pretty lame on FTCA's part.
I'm sure that there is a dept head that is responsible for the manufacturing of each individual model. If that dept head was shown the proofs on the brochure (as it pertains to the model that person is responsible for) and that person approved the proof, that person needs to be replaced IMO.
If they did not give the dept heads the opportunity to proof what was printed about the trailer that he is responsible for building, that's a problem with upper management.
Either way, it shows poor organization on the part of the manufacturer. If they can't get the brochure right......I would ask myself, "Can they get the product right?"
This is the stuff that law suites are made of.
Wavery,
Although I asked eight questions, not all were mistakes. I would classify the responses as follows:
1 Two were clearly typos (Q 1 & 2)
2. One case of different methods of reporting weights between the last two years (Q 7)
3. Three cases of me being picky about the captions under photographs, but the floor plans are correct (Q 3, 4 & 5)
4. Two cases where there were real differences relating to the increase in weights (Q 6 & 8)

I would also have to say, who gives a rip about the brochure to be honest. I would like to think they were a bit busy getting the trailers built right :)
On the other hand if people only buy from the brochure and don't do their "homework" then I guess they get what they deserve.

I, for one, "give a rip" about brochures depicting products that any manufacturer produces. If they can't get the brochure right, how can one expect them to get the product right???
The brochure should present the "
Facts" accurately about the product described. If the facts are wrong.......who's to say if the brochure is wrong or the product is wrong? This is the basis for a lot of lawsuits.

It makes doing homework easy! ;)
