Title: Hello
Post by: wvnurse1 on Jan 10, 2009, 07:37 PM
Hi All.

I am new to this forum. I also post at Atlantic campers and popup portal under the same name.

Our goal this year is to camp every month at least over night.

For New Years Eve we camped at Elk Neck State Park in MD with the Mid Atlantic Campers. It was WINDY and COLD...yet we had a great time. So we already have one trip in for this year.

I just subscribed to the magazine, I hear good things about it.

I look forward to reading more post and getting to know some more campers along the way.

Welcome to PUT!  I was hoping to be on the same trip you were on over New Years.  Do you know if they are still planning on camping at Pine Grove KOA/Twin Grove Park in PA in February?:)

Hi Tracy,

Thanks fro the welcome. I am not sure about the camping spot. There is a trip planned for Valentines Day weekend or the week after. Not sure which.
I am getting ready to go out the door, I'll have to look it up later.

Actually looks like the trip is a day trip with lunch to the MD RV show.

So, does camping over New Year's Eve count as December of 2008 or Jan of 2009? :D

Welcome wvnurse1,

What a great goal, I may have to make that a priority myself. Years ago when my boys were younger I worked for an engineering firm and I worked Monday thru Thursday with every Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. My wife is a teacher so she had the summers off.

There were times in the summer during those years that we would camp 4 or 5 weekends in a row. We would make sure all the household duties were done during the week and when I would come home on Thursday after work, we would hook up and go.

Most of the time we would go to state parks within a 2 hour drive from home, but occasionally we would make the 4 to 5 hour drive to the beautiful beaches of Florida. We were always in a campground between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm depending on where we went. And on the way home, as long as we were home by 10:00 pm Sunday night, I was good for work the next day. That gave us 3 nights of camping and 3 full days of activities for a wonderful weekend of camping.

When we would return home. I would pop up the pup and my wife would restock for the next weekend during the week. We never got tired of it.

Man it was awesome. Our last camping trip was in October of 2008 and my wife and I talked about how we need to go camping more often. So you have inspired me to adopt your goal and make an attempt to go camping at least once every month in 2009.

I better get a move on for January.

I will be glad for double digit numbers! I had about 50 yards to walk from my car to my work and my face was so cold it hurt by the time I got inside!
