Title: Swing Down Galley Replacement Part
Post by: magnmike on Mar 15, 2009, 06:08 PM
Today the sliding metal bar on the swing down galley broke.  This is the piece on the bottom side of galley that attaches to the floor and slides in/out when bringing galley up/down.  It also serves to cover the hole where the drain pipe slides in and out when brining galley down for travel.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement part?

If you have a decent exhaust shop in the area......a shop where you see guys take their street rods and vintage stuff.....go give 'em a tenner to weld it and grind the weld back down smooth.

Good as new.

If you don't want to go the weld route, your Fleetwood/Coleman dealership can order the part if not in stock.  They may request mode/serial number of your trailer.

I don't have a dealership close by and was hoping there was somewhere I could order on-line.  The part must have gotten bent or hung up as it wouldn't slide back together and then broke the top hinge.

You can contact a Coleman PU dealer and see if they will have Coleman ship it directly to you.  I had to replace the same part on my PU a few years back.:)

Update:
Called Coleman parts first.  They said I could only order parts through the dealer.  I called a local Fleetwood/Coleman dealer.  They were able to order it but said Coleman can only ship directly to dealer.  I'll have to make a drive out there and pick up when it comes in.  Quite expensive part.  $65 plus the gas I'll have to spend to pick up as it is a 1 hour trip.

Ask the dealer if they could ship it to you.:)

Unfortunately I did.  They said Coleman only allows them to ship directly to dealer.

After Coleman ships the part to the dealer, I don't know why the dealer won't ship the part to you.  Maybe they are trying to get you into the dealership so you will buy more stuff.???

Finally got the part from the dealer (remember they wouldn't ship directly to me).  The part looks correct, but for the life of me I can't get it to slide apart as it should.  It's in the down position.  If I can't get it to slide.... then can't connect.... etc.  Very frustrating.  Anyone have any suggestions.

Some pictures would help (me) understand where the problem lies.
