Title: Wind vs. Pop-up...
Post by: Rauch0812 on Apr 03, 2009, 07:33 PM
Sorry, I just posted this under "general camping" where it's probably more appropriate.

We really looking forward to our first night out in our new (to us) pop up camper this weekend.  The are calling for 20-30 mph winds for about 5 hours tomorrow night, and beautiful weather on Sunday.  We can't decide what to do.  We REALLY want to go... anybody experience these winds vs. a pop up?  I would love to try, but would hate for something to happen to the camper.  Any quick thoughts?  We're supposed to leave tomorrow!

Thanks!

On our Maiden voyage we had winds 50 to 55 MPH, along with rain and at night we had snow and our water line froze up solid. When we got to the camp site it wasn't raining yet, but it was really windy and i had a heck of a time trying to set up the one bunkend because the wind kept blowing the tent around that end. Just ask the Viking, he was our neighbor. I know he had a good laugh about it. Anyway once we were set-up we had no problems with the wind. We ran the furnace and stayed toasty in our PU......Ed C.

P.S. dont set -up your awning on a windy day or your asking for problems...
