Title: what's your PUP's name?
Post by: Tiffany on Apr 08, 2009, 03:17 PM
I saw a similar thread on another pop up website and wanted to start it here too.  I'm trying to choose a name for my new-to-me Starcraft Galaxy (it must be a girl thing, 'cause my husband just rolled his eyes at me when I started running suggestions by him).

Names I've come up with (or stolen from others):  Jiffy Pop, Wild Hairy Haggis, Starcraft Enterprise, Hauldorf Astoria, Crammit Inn, Taj Ma Haul.

I'm also considering a name from the Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy (since it's a Galaxy model):  Deep Thought, Slartibartfast, Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, and, of course, 42.

Pure cheese, I know.  So, what's your PUP's name?

TARDIS

It may be a girl thing.  My wife named ours.  In fact, she pats it like a dog, too.

The interior of a TARDIS is much larger than its exterior.  From the British TV Science Fiction Series, Dr. Who.
A TARDIS looks like a British phone booth on the outside and big as a house on the inside.

Our old popup was named "The Inn-tensive Care Unit", as both of us were ICU nurses at the time.

"Bumble Bee" From the Transformers.  As it is a Yellow Fleetwood E2.  And my boys like the movie..
If you are looking for a  Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy name.  I always liked Babelfish.

And yes, My Lovely Bride names all of our camping toys.  All of our kayaks, and dirt bikes have names also.
Go figure???

Ours is "The Beast" as it is a Fleetwood Avalon and no one believes me when I quote the dry weight to them so I have to lead them to the tag.

My family likes to call it "Taj We Haul" which I think is cute :)

I had named our pu "the DNC camper" for an event I worked that got us the funds to purchase it. But my son had renamed it a couple of years ago to Clarabelle (of Thomas the Train) and it kind of stuck.

One day we want to go to a county fair and have one of those artisan crafts person, router into a wood plaque for us.
Maybe Leann can embroider it onto a piece of cloth or something also.
Guess I had better ask her to try that.:sombraro:

Hi Tiffany,
Your links connect to a page where a person must sign in with their "facebook" account.

To post photos here, first host them somewhere, like //www.photobucket.com, which allows hot linking.  Once photobucket has your photo stored into your album, you see a thumbnail of that photo.  Hold your cursor over the photo, and below it, a drop down menu will appear and you'll see several computer codes.  For this sight, click on the IMG code to highlight it, then copy and paste it right into your message.

So it will look like this:  (http:/www.thephotobucketaddress.com)

And then when you post you'll get a large photo.

[Hijack]
Man, that's in nice shape.  I love the older Starcrafts in their "welcome to the '80s" tan color schemes.  Looks like yours is the same size as my "Nova" with a different floor plan and a water heater(which mine doesn't have).  I'm jeolous of the bag awning.  I want one reeeeaallly bad.

For your hubby's sake, just call it "The Galaxy." ;)

Here's my '87 Nova:

Try this.  Best price I found, and its a great awning.  He carries all sizes, if they aren't listed just ask. A few of us have bought them and they are great awnings, and an easy install...

Yep, that's the one I'll wind up buying.  I've just been too cheap.....and then last year at the end of the season, sported for about $125 in LEDs for the interior ceiling lights, and the porch light.

I actually had a super nice Fiamma cassette style that was even in the right tan/brown tones, but it was so heavy (you may remember me asking for advice on whether or not to use it) and was going to require drilling through the roof sidewall, etc. that I sold it.  Killed me to do it because it was a $500 awning that I got for $80.

Our little pup is called "The Tar Heel". Of course the choice had a lot to do with the fact that we are huge UNC fans and live in the great state of NC, better know as the Great Tar Heel State! :)
Title: Thumper

I call it our "vacation home," but dear wife just named it Thumper.  Her nickname as a kid was Claudhopper, which we shortened to hopper and hop.  Now it's thumper. ...

We also call our Rockwood "Rocky"  We named our first tow vehicle, a Hyundai Santa Fe, "Santy"

Our current tow vehicle, a Sport Trac, is named "Merle" because of it's merlot color.

I call her "my girl" or "the girl" or "little girl"...she's a fleetwood royale and is really light and little for having a 10' box.  I am the mother of 4 little boys and a male poodle, so it was time for another girl in the house, lol:)

Ours was named when we ment up with a friend in Mammoth National Park.  He was using his A-Liner, just right for one, and we had five in our Bayside.  He called it the "Taj Majal" to make fun of how much bigger it was than his A-Liner.  "Taj Majal" which quickly became the "Taj MaHaul."

Post by: G Bird on Sep 01, 2009, 01:29 PM
I'm a veterinarian. Last name is Bird.
Every vehicle we have had has had a name:
Blue Nissan Pickup - Bluedog
Ford Expedition - Bigdog
F-150 PU - Birddog
F-350 - Bulldog
Ford 500 - the 500 (original huh?)
Red Ford Edge - Redgie (apparently we are out of "bird" or "dog" related names
Even a Hinamoto tractor named Cupcake (it's orange and reminded my wife of some cupcakes she had at Halloween).
The PUP is the ONLY thing I have managed to keep from having some goofey name ("Honey, go get cupcake fired up and drag the arena".

But after all the fixup, and modification I have been doing recently, I'm afraid it will be called "hole in the water" because a boat is a hole in the water into which you poor money. My PUP is my boat that won't float.
