Title: cleaning interior walls
Post by: surffishjimmy on Apr 19, 2009, 08:27 AM
Any advice on cleaning the interior fabric walls?  Using a fabric cleaner and a soft brush, but it's pulling up the nap quite a bit (a cloth doesn't get the dirt out).  There's alot of grime around door frame and windows from previous owner that really needs to come off.  Thanks in advance.

I was trying to find a solution to the same problem, someone suggested to use a steam cleaner. Don't own one so wasn't able to try it.

I had good results using an old towel and ammonia water, rinsing well.  Very little lint if any, and results were excellent.  I do have a battery operated scrub brush (black & decker), but doing by hand was actually less strenuous for me (weak wrists).

I don't know if I'd use a steam cleaner - I've got one and thought it did well - especially cleaning the shower stall, but, the high heat did something to the caulking and it turned black with mold/meldew and I had to replace the caulking as it wouldn't get clean/stay clean.  I also found the high heat did a number on the glue behind the wallpaper on the bathroom wall, so I don't use it anymore for things like that.
