Updated forums and now I see dean@popuptimes.com in Dallas OR at the bottom of PUT.com
I think Dave bailed on us.

Good luck DNO you've done Great with PUX :) You do great here also.
Good luck DNO you've done Great with PUX :) You'll do great with popuptimes.
I'm still here but in a different capacity. After 11 years of producing PUT magazine I needed a change and made Dean deal he couldn't refuse. He's already taken over the web sites and the issue that's almost ready for press now will be my last as publisher and then Dean will take over as "chief cook and bottle washer". I'll concentrate on advertising.
I'm excited for Dean and the future of PUT!
Dave
It seems the cat got out of the bag last night. I was going to keep a low profile until the next issue was out. I hope that I can do it justice. I will be thankful for all the support I can get.
If anyone has any concerns or questions I will do my best to address them.

So whats up with Dave?? And are you now running PUX AND PUP?
As Dave said, he needed a change. I will be runnng both PopUp Explorer and its sister sites as well as Pop UP Times and its sister sites. I have already moved both popuptimes.com and arveeclub.com over to my server. Based on the last couple days peak times, clearly I have more work to do. I was finally able to get the max settings adjusted for the database server so I'm hoping we won't have the same problem we had the last few days. If I have to upgrade my server, then I will do that but I thought I would try and tweak some settings first.
For those that don't know I am a graphic designer so I don't expect the actual layout of the magazine to be a big challenge for me. I'm not a gifted sales person or a great writer, so pulling those aspects of the magazine together will be more... interesting for me. I know there have been some of you that have contributed in the past and for those that would like to contribute moving forward I welcome your contribution. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like to be involved.
Cool I guess. Glad everyone is happy.
Why not mirror PUT and PUX so we are one big happy family again? (funny I just had "the split, explained to me this weekend)
I can't help but think that things have kind of come to a full circle. Many of us started out on PUT. As things changed in our little community of pop-up camper enthusiasts, PUX was born and many members found their way over and even called PUX home. As our community continues to evolve PUX and PUT are again part of the same family.
For me running PUX has been both rewarding and humbling. I could never have predicted that I would have a popular web site especially about pop-up campers. It's interesting how life's little twist and turns leave you in places you never imagined. I guess for the adventurer in me, the guy that loves to camp it seems fitting.
I hope everyone will join me in wishing Dave well as he moves on to other things and to thank him for what he as brought to all of us. And as a personal note I would also like to thank Dave for the opportunity to allow his baby "Pop UP Times" to become my baby, I hope I will do it justice.

I'm open to just about anything at the moment, but my sense is we need time to evaluate what is best for the arveeclub community. I'm sure there are quite a few people that for them this is home base. I want to ensure that moving forward it still feels like home base. I guess at some point we should all discuss where the members see arvee club heading. If anyone has ideas... throw them out you never know what might stick.

Well since I use this site mainly, and have many friends here, this is my HOME BASE. HOWEVER I check PUX at least once a day, and get alot of valuable information from it.
I think it would be nice if they mirrored each other, and if you post on one, it shows up on the other. Then maybe in time, you can combine the two I even have the new name. Pop Up World, or POW!!!:sombraro:

I think it's worth considering, I think if I had consensus from the vast majority of people that they would like to see a mirrored site or similar then it might be a good direction to go. At the same time if I get the feeling that most people don't want that then I would lean away from it myself. I will admit it would be easier for me if it were all mirrorerd or combined somehow, but it's not really about me. Everyone here has supported this site I just want to ensure there is still good reason to continue supporting this site.
PUT is my home I registered at PUX have visited it, reconize some of the members...but never go there, I can't give any specific reason why not. it's not like I feel one is "better" than the other..maybe because my "family" is here and don't have the desire to go anywhere else.
Dave Good Luck...because of you and your website and magazine I have found a great family of friends which have given my kids memories they will carry with them their entire lifetime...
Dean You are one crazy person to take this job on and deal with all us yahoo's...Hopefully everyone will be patient and give you a chance. for me I will do my best to support you and if you mess up I'll let you know

Just kidding..Good Luck with this Ginormous job
LOL Dee4j, I guess what you are saying then is somedays yor are the camper and somedays you are the marshmellow. I guess I don't want to be the marshmellow :sombraro:
Speaking for myself as a resident & camp host of PUX, I see some advantages in mirroring the two sites. Even though many people are readers of both forums, some are not and uniting the two would increase the possibility of someone obtaining the answer they seek when posting. The ability of local groups forming informal (or even formal) pup camping groups would also increase. It would also save time for those of us who jump back and forth in an attempt to keep up with both sites.

Dave , glad to see you didn't just sneak off into the night without a parting word. I hope this is the change you need and it works for you. You've put alot of your life into this...how's it feel to let go of the reigns ?
I believe you put them into capable hands with Dean.

Marcy,
It feels a little weird not being in charge of PUT. I came up with the idea and the name in 1997. I really intended for it to be a newsletter but it quickly turned into a magazine when my co-founder, Charlie Gilbert, said he'd publish Pop UP Times if it was a color magazine. We had a blast with PUT - the trade shows, mfr tours, freebies and recognition is fun. Charlie died 3 years ago and took some of the wind out of my sails.
I'm very comfortable with Dean taking the helm and actually think he'll get it done - probably better than I ever did. I'll be helping Dean with ad sales and an occaisional article so I'll still be around, just not in front.
:# Good luck to both of ya !!
'Tis a bittersweet day. I have seen PUT throughout most of its days, and admire Dave for following a dream, even when it got rough.
However, I know Dean is also quite capable, and PUT will continue to be a great magazine.
Thanks, Dave.
Larry
Wow - some big news here! Dave - I certainly hope we continue to see you around. I think I've been hanging out here since '01 and want to thank you for providing a forum where so many of us hung out and became friends. So, thanks! And, good luck to Dean on this new venture (well, added venture) for him.
Dave: Thanks for all your hard work with PUT! Good luck in your new (ad)ventures!
Dean: Good Luck to you as well. I'm sure it will all go well. I visit PUX on occasion. Mostly visit here at PUT because I'm a country boy who doesn't like crowds! PUT had a more "homey" feel to it. However I wouldn't be opposed to having the sites mirrored and eventually merged if that's the way you decide to go!
Dave,
Good luck with the new job I know you will do it well.....Thanks for the many times you have helped me out and I know Dean will do a good job too.....
Still getting used to this new site set up but I'll learn..... It just takes longer for us non-computer older types.......:eyecrazy:
WOW!!!!!!.........all these goings ons.....:D
I've never met Dave or Dean. I wish you both the best though. The inside workings of PUT has always been a mystery to me....kinda like "OZ"...:p
I've never even logged onto PUX but I can't see the harm in merging the two. I just care that SCCAMPERS have a place to meet each day and that people can have a place to share experience, ideas and (yes) sometimes gripes. IMO......the more, the marrier:-()........but then again, what do I know? :p
