Title: Where to buy an RV battery
Post by: outdoors5 on Jul 13, 2009, 09:34 PM
I'm trying to avoid the one hour drive to the RV dealar.  Sears has a Marine/RV deep cycle battery.  Is that correct for the pop up.  Also, Walmart had Deep Cycle batteries.  What are your thoughts.

If you can find one that says, "Deep Cycle" you may be better off. The "Marine Deep Cycle" are sort of a cross between a starting battery and a deep cycle.

IMO avoid the Walmart scene.  Those batteries are cheap for a reason.

Your local NAPA will have nice Excide brand batteries.  Buy a nice battery and take care of it......keep it fully charged and don't run it down too far.....and you'll get years of use.

Also, if you do a lot of dry camping, check out the LED light thread that's a sticky.  It actually starts in the solar panel thread.  There are some outstanding 9 and 10 LED printed circuit boards now.  The have light bulb bases so they plug into your existing ceiling light sockets.  The are very bright...especially these "new" 10 LED versions...and use almost no power.

I have bought my last two Interstate brand batteries (one for the popup and one for the boat) from Gander Mountain, but they are available at a lot of retailers nationwide.  http://www.interstatebatteries.com/cs_estore/DealerLocator/Default.aspx

Thanks for the replys.  Any other name brands or stores are still welcome to save me the drive.
