First of all, hello again! I haven't been on here in almost a year because I had a new baby in May:) My fourth boy and yes, I'm done!
Anyway, I am finally cleared for some physical activity and I opened up the pop up today to find mold on the ceiling>:(
I KNEW I should've put a damp rid tub in there last year....
How should I clean that? My ceiling is a bit textured. Should I just use my clorox mold/mildew remover that I use in the bathroom?
ALSO, it might be in my head, but I think my canvas sorta kinda looks like it *MIGHT* BE A BIT MILDEWEY TOO. What on earth could I use to clean that without damaging it? Will some bright sunshine bleach it out I wonder?
ONE more issue: Since the celing is moldy, should I assume that the bunk end beds and the curtains have some issues, too, even though I can't see them. I mean, the beds are charcoal colored, so I'd never know:( Curtains are tan and look great, but now I'm paranoid.
I keep my camper stored in the garage, but it does get steamy in there, so that's how this happened btw. I didn't put the damprid in this year, because last year, I spilled a damprid tub inside the camper and it got me all upset and I sort of forgot to find a new alternative.
TIA for your advice!
Sounds like everything needs to get a scrubbing to remove all the mold. Test a small out of sight area first with any type of cleaner you use to make sure it won't discolor the fabric. Check out a RV place for some good mold and canvas cleaners. The curtains and bed/seat covers can be removed to wash them. A soft scrub brush might help for the textured ceiling.
Instead of the damp rid, some air circulation would help. Maybe a small fan set up inside on a timer?
Good Luck
A 10% mixture of Clorox with water worked well for me in the past.
Test clean a small section of the areas first to be certain that you do not harm the color in these areas. Remove the solution using a sponge with fresh water, and let air dry.
The best and cheapest mold remover that I have found to date..... including commercial brand mold removers. ;)
just wanted to say hello, and congrats on the new baby. gotta ask, may what? my birthday is the 3rd :-()
i don't know what a damp rid tub is?
and that I would give it a good scrub down all over. inside and out.
including the curtains and beds. it'll be some work, but you don't want to get out there and start smelling mold with the boys and the baby.
