I bet there have been many similar threads here, but a search found nothing for me. What I'm looking for is any advice on the use of a foam topper vs buying a new mattress for our pup.
Been looking at prices, and a topper made of memory foam runs about $150 to 200. I see a replacement mattress can run up to $300-400+. A foam/memory foam layered topper is cheapest at under $100. Anything has to be better than what we're sleeping on, which is just a 4" piece of dense foam in a cloth bag. Has anyone had experience using a topper to replace the foam piece in their pup bed? Should we go memory foam, a foam/memory foam mix, or should we just put out the bucks and get a mattress?
Thanks in advance for any help!
I bought a memory foam topper from Overstock.com and trimmed it down to fit my almost king size pop up mattress. It was the best thing I ever did and I sure don't need a new mattress.
I bought a Costco "nova-foam" brand 2" thick topper for our almost King sized bunk...scored it brand new on Craigslist for $50. Bought a 1-1/2" thick one for the DD's bunk from Target for $19. We put the toppers right on top of the original mattresses and sleep fantastic. We leave the mattresses in place when closing up the camper.
They had the egg crate (yellow) kind on clearance at Walmart (at least at my walmart they did) over the weekend.... I think for like $20 - $25 each. I've heard peeps say they use those.
We went to Tuesday Morning and bought a memory foam matress topper. Best investment ever. It came with a bag that keeps it clean. We used to take the one off the bed every weekend, but buying a second one and leaving this in the camper has been awesome.
jps
Egg crate foam is not the same. Definitely pay the extra for the memory foam. I just gave all our egg crate foam to Goodwill.
