Title: Any ideas why my pup lights all flash alittle ???
Post by: J-Bird on Sep 22, 2009, 06:07 PM
Hi again everyone, on my 2010 Jayco when i put on the directional light either left or right the other side blinks too, NOT the same brightnes but enough to notice, the clearance lights too flash alittle, it is noticable.  Should I bring it back to the RV place or live with it or does anyone know why ???? THANKS AGAIN for ALL you help/input...... J-Bird

I would have it back at the dealer checking all these little issues out rather than trying to figure them out myself.

Take it back to who did the wiring and have it checked. Could be something like a bad or loose ground wire.

90% chance that it's a bad ground.

It could either be on the TV side or the camper harness side but more than likely in the plug.

I'd take it back to whoever wired your trailer hitch.

I vote for a bad or loose ground wire some where in the system.
Check all ground points and all me in the morning:-():-():-()....AZ:U

Another vote for a grounding problem, and for bringing it back to the dealer that installed the electrical.

Try cleaning the trailer light connectors (both the trailer and the tow vehicle) first. My round 7 pin connector tends to pick up sand and grit, and has problems like this. A good cleanout with a WD40 and a qtip followed by some new dielectric grease solves the problem. You usually get some grounding between the tongue and trailer ball, but I run a Robin Shock Absorbing hitch which has a rubber insulator so it doesn't ground through the tongue.
