Title: Pop Up Bike Rack Wanted
Post by: Wingdreamer on Nov 05, 2009, 10:01 AM
Looking to add a bike rack to my Pop Up. Anyone have a good used rack that they want to part with? I was looking for the "Pro Rac" style that mounts to the front "A" frame and comes up like a telescopic "T". Rear tires of the bike sit on the roof of the trailer with the front forks attached to the rack.  Holds between 2 and 4 bikes.
Thanks, Alan

Many have built their own Pro Rac style racks. I built one last spring for around half the cost of a Pro Rac. It was pretty easy, used only hand tools and didn't take too long. There is a parts list and detailed photos posted on my website (//%22http://home.comcast.net/~aslag54%22).

Alan-
I've been looking at bike racks this year. Didn't find anything under $100 even worth looking at. I have found the best selection at Camping World. There is a aluminum pop-up bike rack for around $120, but it rests on the roof with four posts. I thought about a rear bumper rack, but most pups have a split bumper unable to hold the weight. I have a design in mind for my pup, just need to find a welder to piece it together.
aslag has a neat set up, but I detest having to remove tires to travel.

I have a rack that I purchased from http://sixnall.com/ it was not very expensive and will hold up to 4 bikes. There is no installation once you put the thing together. It works well and I like the fact that there is no drilling into the camper. The only down fall is sometimes it can be a bit difficult to lift the heavier bikes up on the roof of the camper. Other than that I highly recommend this bike carrier.
