Title: Looking for a Starcraft tongue jack
Post by: austinado16 on Nov 16, 2009, 02:17 AM
Hi Gang,
I'm working on a 1990 Starcraft Starflyer and the previous owner has removed the cool original tongue jack that runs up the middle of the A-frame via that nifty clamp assembly.  The clamp assembly has also been removed.

Anyone have a good used complete tongue jack and clamp assembly?

Or, anyone know if these are still available?  I can't find any online source.  The clamp assembly is stamped "AK-CL"

Thanks!

Thanks guys.

The jack that should be there looks like the second one in from the right:

Except that it doesn't have the triangle mount flange and has a wheel mounted permanently to 2 longer arms.

And it's held in place by a clamp:

Just talked to StarcraftRV and the assembly was made by "AL-KO" which is "AL-CO Kober" manufacturing in Elkhart, IN.  Still in business, but it appears they only do trailer axles now.

Anyway, the Starcraft part number is:
02-05-2663 $99 + $15 shipping

Starcraft has been taken over by Jayco so they will no longer sell to non-dealer shops or individuals, so I've called a Starcraft dealer in the Los Angeles area and am waiting to hear back on price.

Coachman used that clam shell clamp also.
Not as wobbly as the swing down I added for convenience

I don't like the swing downs at all.  They get all torqued and wobbly/weird.  They don't retract short enough to allow you to drop the tongue all the way to the ground if you're trying to get level on a site that slopes to the rear.  They keep you from unhitching if you get in a situation where the hitch ball and tongue have dropped lower than collapsed length of the jack.  Had that happen yesterday unloading this camper.  Had to lift the tongue by hand to get it up off the ball, and high enough that I could kick the stupid swing jack down into position.  Can't wait to remove it and get rid of it.

That's too funny.......I got rid of the center jack on my trailer because I couldn't open the tailgate. I also got tired of having to take that wheel on & off. I guess it's "Different strokes for different folks"..:sombraro:

This one has a 1000# rating and works great on our trailer.

That's what you get for having a silly tailgate.  If you had ambulance doors, it wouldn't be a pro'lem. Yo;)

Almost PM'd you a week ago when I found a Power Caster at the local swapmeet that I thought you guys would love.
