I am replacing the wood on the roof where the canvas mount screws into.My question is what type of plywood should I use.thanks in advance for any suggestions
I would consider using marine grade plywood. It will resist rot much better than standard plywood or solid wood.

I agree.......marine ply is stronger and more resistant to moisture. Construction grade plywood has "Voids" that can trap moisture and eventually result in delamination. The voids may end up being right where you want to put a screw too. That's not an issue with marine ply. Marine ply has "NO" voids. It is also laminated with a superior, water proof "resin" instead of "glue".
Exterior grade ply is a
lot cheaper and may be adequate for your needs. It's pretty hard to buy partial sheets of marine ply and a 4x8 sheet is very expensive. If you live in an area that has boat repair yards, you might check to see if you can find some partial sheets that the owner of the shop might sell you.......he may even have a "cut-off" that he'd give you. I just hate doing jobs twice and I feel that using the best quality for the job is worth my time.
