Title: Camping Again!
Post by: 4Campers on Aug 25, 2022, 01:44 PM
Yay! We get to go camping again this weekend! It's a freebie from the weekend we got cancelled due to no power after a storm. One of our favorite state parks here in SW Ohio, Stonelick.
Then I got lucky for the weekend after Labor Day and found a site at our old fav park. It's the most secluded site there, and a short walk uphill to the restrooms. That site is usually the first to be taken all summer long.

I'm a bit jealous, I think we are done for the year. I went ahead and put away the camper. It was a short expensive season.

Have a good time!

It was a nice relaxing weekend. That CG is one of the best in our local area.
This is our 1994 Dutchmen 1002XS we bought new.

This next camp may end up being our last one this season. And I can see it isn't going to be a happy one.
Other than the forecast is calling for rain, the wife blew out her knee at work the other day and is on crutches, non-weight bearing. :(
I tried to get a spot for a Halloween camp in October, but every CG we visit is already booked solid. My bad for waiting so late, but I had to wait until after our London trip and see what the bank account allowed. October is the last month we usually camp because most places turn off the water & electric on Nov. 1.
It kills me to end camping in early September, but if there's no sites available, can't camp.

Hope your wife heals quickly.

I was feeling the camping itch while driving over some mountains in Arizona between Winslow and Payson. it felt more like Oregon to me than Arizona, It's the complete opposite of Phoenix. Until this past labor day weekend I had not seen anything other than desert in Arizona.

Thanks Dean.

I've been to Flagstaff once. That's my only knowledge of Arizona other than passing through from LA to Detroit. I always thought Arizona would be the perfect camping paradise. Head north in the summer for the cooler temps?

I think many people do just that, they head up to Flagstaff or Prescott or other similar climates in Arizona.

That would be great. No need to leave the state.

Camping went pretty good despite wife's knee. She got in and out of the pup pretty good with her crutches and immobilizer. Getting to the potty was a car ride though.
Bummer is we found out our pie maker was shot. Tried to make a couple of "hobo pies" and the bread stuck inside like glue, as much as it got a good spray of oil.

We canceled a camping trip this week.  There are four forest fires totalling about 200,000 acres surrounding the area we were going to with 1,000 firefighters and the air quality hovers between 'unhealthy' and 'hazardous'.   Sitting in the campground looking at smoke isn't much fun and all those people don't need another tourist in the way.  Bummer, but canceling was the best decision.   :(

Saw in the news about all the fires out there. Hope no one gets hurt battling them.
We've cancelled a camp once or twice. One because it was predicted to pour rain all weekend, and it did. Record rainfall in fact. One time a storm left us standing in 50 MPH winds holding down the awning and getting soaked. That storm blew out as fast as it came in, maybe 20 minutes is all it lasted.
