Title: Thousand Trails Peace River (Wauchula Florida)
Post by: GoneCamping on Oct 01, 2022, 03:35 PM
The Peace River in Wauchula was reported to be 27 feet above flood stage. It's receded 5 feet so far. I'm suppose to camp here next month (November 17th), somehow I don't think that is going to happen.... (click it to expand size)

You're going to need a houseboat to camp there!
Hope the water recedes or you can find a different spot.

I'm sure the water will be gone by late next month, but not so sure that place is going to be operational for some time to come. They are currently letting people in to retrieve their "salvageable" stuff. It'll probably look fine from the street in a week or so, but all the electrical & sewer will need a thorough going over, and all the bath houses are likely destroyed, or need serious rebuilding.

According to Lisa (manager), ELS has sent a team down there to help put it back together, after all, Florida busy season starts in December and this is one of only 3 TT parks down there. I'm currently working at trying to figure out alternative booking, at least for November. We'll see how things are going in January when I've got a 2nd reservation there.
