Title: The Eagle has landed....
Post by: GoneCamping on Apr 01, 2023, 08:30 PM
Well, at least for now. Have arrived in Virginia, which is my "Half way" point in the trip north. I'll spend close to 5 weeks here before moving north again while I wait for Maine to finish thawing out. I guess for me, this is my vacation while I'm between jobs!!

Great! Vacation time is the best.
My brother just stopped by on his way home from Florida. One night and on to Michigan.

Managed to meet up with very close freind from my High School years, we've camped together in Florida, then again last week in Myrtle Beach, and oddly enough, he's at a campground 1 mile away from mine right now! So we (his wife included) spent the afternoon walking around Colonial Williamsburg (my step counter is registering over 14,000 steps taken today). They leave for Massachusetts on Thursday, but I'll see them again in 5 weeks when I get to the Sturbridge TT Park, it's roughly 20 miles from their house.

I moved from TT Williamsburg to TT Chesapeake Bay in Gloucester Va, have site #B-16 which is a very roomy site...

Nice site, lots of trees.
This where you're staying for the month?

I don't recognize a sky lately without rain.   :P

Most of the month, and I'm shortening that by 4 days as I've managed to get a site at Lums Pond State Park on the 23rd, and a free place to stay in Massachusetts starting on the 24th (campgrounds don't open there until May 1st). So will be arriving at Pinehirst in Maine before the end of the month, likely the 26th or 27th (they would like me there before their opening day on May 1st).

Oh, and this is a pretty cool park, the leaves have been growing out daily, nice level sites, waterfront on the Piankatank River with boat launch and fishing pier plus a swim beach, two pools and an indoor hot tub, Food Trucks every weekend. Only thing I don't like about this place, it's about 30 minute drive from pretty much anywhere. It's quiet though!!

I could do that park. Fishing pier, hot tub and food trucks got me!
Enjoy!

The trip is complete, arrived at Pinehirst RV Resort in Old Orchard Beach Maine today! They want me to start work tomorrow morning at 9am, not wasting any time here! Looks like a lot of work needs to be done to get this place open on Monday! It was 1,586 miles, and about 30 hours drive time (listed as 27 hours, but it always takes me longer).

Nice, glad you made it ok. That is one long drive.
Hard to believe it's almost May. Our first camp is in two weeks, and the pup has yet to come out for spring cleaning. I'm on limited weight right now so I can't do it. It may end up going to camp dirty. SIL will set up for us at least. Then Donna is having knee replaced early June. I was diagnosed with bladder tumors and will be undergoing treatments for a good part of the summer. I don't think the pup will get much use this year.  :(

That does not sound like a fun summer Tim.  I hope everything goes well.
