Title: It's That Time of Year Again
Post by: 4Campers on Jan 05, 2025, 11:14 AM
The snow is coming down here in Cincy. As much as we used to live in the Great White North I still don't like seeing that white stuff falling out of the sky. More now than ever I guess since it's been 35+ years since we left the GWN. And probably because this darn old body likes warmth more now.

However, that means it's dream and shop season. What do we want for the camper? What changes can I dream up? The wife has been looking at FB RV Modifications, Tips and Hints which may be dangerous! Between DD and Santa we got lots of new camping gear, but there's always that one more thing, right? :D

Tim,
It's time for you to watch "The Long, Long Trailer" (1953, Lucille Ball & Dezi Arnaz).  Either again or for the first time.  Always room for one more thing reminds me of the scene in the movie where Lucille Ball's character admits to having collected a special rock at every place they visited.  ;D   It's super corny, funny and worth the watch.  It's on Amazon Prime if you're a member, or you can buy the DVD at Amazon if you have a DVD player.  I think some of the other streaming services have it too.  The scene about backing up the trailer is my favorite!

I vaguely remember this episode. I'll have to look it up.
We have Prime, no DVD. (aren't DVD's the last technology to go by the wayside?)

And here's the camper today! Eleven inches of snow, so far.

Tim,
A nice snowy day dreaming of camping and watching the movie definitely beats shoveling snow!

Daydreaming and movie watching wasn't in the plans for that day. Have to be grateful that my FIL (RIP) left us a snowblower. It's a tiny thing but it blasts snow a good 10-15 feet. Took us a good part of the day to clear that 11 inches of snow. Then there was another 2 inches three days later. UGH.
I did find that Lucy & Desi episode on two different sites, both subscription based of course. But I found a short trailer where Desi is backing the trailer. CRASH! Too Funny.

You are as bad as my brother who posted it was 78° and sunny in San Diego.
If I could I'd mail you both a box of snow! :))

They're talking snow or slush in Jacksonville Monday/Tuesday. Might get a tad chilly here in Orlando area, Freeze warnings are for north of Ocala though!

A couple from around here went to Florida to escape the cold & snow. It was snowing there when they arrived.

Weather this morning is 0° outside. High might get to 20°, maybe.

I have asked my Great White North friends to come get their weather.

I can't tell you what our weather has been like for the past 3 weeks.  You'd send someone out to get me!   ;D  8)

Yeah, it got a little cold this past week, Milton Florida got 10" of snow! Crazy stuff, was down to 35º here in Clermont last night, it was enough to put the final nail in my truck batteries coffin!! Had to by a new battery this morning. Temps returning to normal though, will be 70º tomorrow, and 77º by mid week.

It's warming up here a little. Those darn single digit temperatures froze my garage door lock, froze the van doors and killed the hydraulics in the lift gate. At least it's been starting because I can't remember when that battery was replaced. The Acadia has been starting up like it's missing a couple spark plugs.
Weather people say 40's for a high all week! A good part of that 11 inches of snow we got is melted.
Next month we can start making reservations to CAMP!

It's supposed to be 50° here today! Almost all our snow is melted. We are so ready to go camping!
My email box had 3 from Donna, things to buy for the camper. My Amazon wish list is growing.

Winter didn't last any longer than 2 weeks here. Spring time now, Pollen all over the vehicles etc.
