Title: Tekonsha Prodigy install
Post by: springer02 on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
Just installed a Prodigy in our new T.V., but ran into something not covered in any of their documentation.

Without a trailer connected, the display at rest shows two dots (or decimal points), one in the middle and one to the right. The literature indicates that the one in the middle of the screen is normal when no trailer connected. It indicates in some spots that the second one comes on if the boost is activated, but I haven t (knowlingly) done that and am not even sure it can be done until the trailer is attached.

Any idea what this extra pixel of red light is trying to tell me?

 Dave

 PS:
The only other message I ve run into is a momentary 0G (zero ground) message upon startup. I searched the previous PUT board and found lots of folks who spot this on startup and don t have a problem and have been told to ignore it, but just to be safe I ll rerun my ground wire on the next warm day.

 springer02Sounds normal to me.
Two dots is what I see on ours whenever our trailer is not connected.

springer02Dave, the red dot on the right side shows that the boost has been activated. It is controlled by the blue button on the right side. Start your rig, press the button, and the boost level will change from 0 to 1,2, or 3, and back to 0. Press it until you reach the setting you want. The blue " mouse scroller"  on the left side is how you set the amount of power applied to the brakes.

Can t remember about the OG thing, SWMBO has the truck right now and is away from the house so I can t check the Prodigy or it s manual.

springer02It sounds like you just pushed the button for boost.  Push it a few times and see if it goes away.

springer02It turns out it was the boost. Thanks.

I thought 6.1 and 6.2 were voltages, but in this case it was b.1 and b.2, which on an LCD looks about the same.
