Title: Westminster dog show
Post by: Trlrboy on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
 A drum roll please...

" Jester" , an orange and white Brittany is the top candidate from the sporting dog category which will get judged tonight on USA at 7:00PM.  Root for him because he looks like my Brittany, Ginger...

Trlrboy" Gator"  the Welsh Springer Spaniel best of breed winner is the father of my most recent puppies and is owned by by friends of mine who are former pop-up owners.  Also at the show was PUT member Sandy Holmes whose dog Janiver won an Award of Merit.

 Trlrboywssfetch,

Bet you a cheap set of tacky lights that the Brittany comes in higher than the Welsh Springer Spaniel in the sporting group tonight...  you on?

TrlrboyNotice how I managed to avoid this bet until AFTER the show was over!

Jester really looked wonderful, as always!  His handler shows him beautifully.  We never had a chance of winning those tacky lights!

TrlrboyThe Newfie in best in show was so over handled it was ridiculous!  Guess it was just nerves on the handler s part - she wouldn t even let him stack naturally when she was specifically told to.  Made it look like he had some fault she was hiding.
Ah, well.  The Kerry Blue was a beautiful dog, too.
It s an honor to even be at Westminster, so good congratulations to Jester, Gator, Janiver, and their owners and handlers!  (Doesn t sound like such a bad life for Jester!) [;)]

 TrlrboyMiss-Teri,

Yeah, she blew it. That is a lovely Newfy who moves beautifully.  But I haven t seen many Newfs that can be free baited into a decent stack.  I was at an obedience trial this past weekend and a friend of mine was standing with her smallish Newf girl next to my chair and crate and just standing there talking the muscles of her arms were quivering just trying to keep her dog from knocking the coffee cup out of my hand.

TrlrboyWay to go Mick!  Very nice Kerry that deserved to win!  Also helps that he is the Grandfather of my brothers new puppie.[;)]  I grew up with 3 different Kerry s.  One was a house dog, the other 2 were show dogs.  Both were AKC champions.  A great breed around kids.

TrlrboyI read in the newspaper that the German Shepard who won best of breed was a local dog.  Wow.
