Title: Pop-up screen room
Post by: wssfetch on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
There are always a lot of posts about screen rooms and AARs--whether they are worth the pain in the rear end requried to installed and set them up or not.

I ve toyed with the idea of making a screen room with privacy panels for my awning.  My camper is small (8 ft. box) and it might be cheaper for me to make something that fits the way I want it to rather than spending a couple of hundred dollars on an AAR that will be hard to set up.

In the meantime I bought a pop-up screen room that is really and truly light weight and easy to set up (30 seconds or so).  It is small (only 6  x 6 ) but it sets up nicely next to my awning.  I ve never tried putting it UNDER the awning but imagine it would work.  Anyway the price was right ($59).  I ve seen them for as low as $39.  Here is a link:

The screen room folds into a small package and comes with it own case.  Rides in the PU on top of the dinnette cushions.

wssfetchLooks great if only it were bigger.  I can t imaging having 15 adults in there like it says you can.  It would be great if there were a larger one to fit a table and chairs in.  If anyone sees one like that please let me know.

wssfetchYeah, hard to believe that 15 adults fit in it.  Maybe standing up shoulder to shoulder!  Its 6 x 6 and you can fit a small table and chairs in it.  I put a couple of camp chairs and a little folding table with tv/vcr in it sometimes.  Have also attached fabric shower curtains around it with clothes pins and put the porta potti in it.

When I got mine there was also a larger size--It think it was twice as large and made about the same way.

wssfetchIt said 10 adults or 15 children.  Still, I can t imagine even having 4 adults in there with camp chairs.  I m not claustrophobic, but I don t like always bumping into things either.  If it fits your needs though, the price is right.  I looked today at a screenroom or Add a Room for my Carefree of Colorado awning.  The screenroom was around $174 and the Add a Room was around $325.   If I can t get a better price than that at the RV show this weekend, then I ll order one from the dealer.
