Title: Curb ramp
Post by: Nick on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
Anyone know of a ramp made to back a trailer up the curb onto the side walk.  I have an RV storage pad in my back yard, with a double fence entrance.  Only problem is our curbs are higher than normal.  I thought about just using a few 6x2 s but thought I would see if anyone manufacures one.

 Thanks

 NickNick, keep looking.

I saw one advertised on a web site a couple of weeks ago.  It looked very nice, but I was slow that day and didn t add the link to my website.[:@]

 Sorry

NickNick: Check with some of your buddies that have ATV s and a pickup. Most folks around here with that combination own a set of aluminum ramps for loading the ATV. They d work perfect for what you need...earl

NickDon t go overboard here.  Just use a few pieces of 2X6 and/or 2X4 s.

NickSeems to me your street would have to be mighty wide to get your PU backed up right to fit on two ramps.  Of course, you just may be a heck of a lot better at backing than I am.  I m lucky to hit the driveway - period.  Just a thought...

Good luck.  Don t have any ideas other than to suggest, like Stopher, that you stay with 2x4 s and 2x6 s.  I ve found you can build most anything with them.  Bet you ll get some great ideas real soon.[:)]

I have a set of those ramps, and they are bouncy with a 574 pound ATV (ridden by a 200 pound galoot)! I wouldn t dare use them with a popup! They are a set of high quality ramps too!

 1) From the main page, click on dealer shops
 2) Enter your zip code when prompted to do so.
 3) Dealers in your area will be displayed, select one of them and this will get you to the catalog.
 4) Select Jacks, Levelers & Ride Control
 5) Select Levelers

Sorry they don t show a picture of the curb ramp.

 Nick -

GIANT RECREATION WORLD (www.giantrecreationworld.com) has curb ramps shown in their new large catalog (page 473).  They have (3) locations in Florida, but you can mail order.  They sent me their latest " full color"  thick catalog free.
 Give them a call @ 1-800-654-8475.

 NickNick,
Up here in the Great White North  [;)] I was able to pay the town to cut the curb for me. It cost about $100 for a 10  cut. I did just use boards before but that was a pain. Works great, I left the grass alone so you wouldn t know from the road that I run the camper into the yard behind the gate.

small5Thanks for the tip about the Giant Recreation World printed catalog.  I went to the website you posted and requested one.  I am getting a little flack about monopolising the PC.  A catalog would be an excellent distraction.

I found it amusing that their online catalog links to www.rvlifestyles.net.  That s the same place I was directing Nick to via www.funroads.com.

RamblingWreckThe Giant Recreation World Catalog arrived today via UPS.  It took a grand total of 5 days from order to delivery.  Catalog has a list price of $5.95.  They didn t charge me anything for it or for the shipping and handling.

I think I will forward my mail to you. [:D] I get catalogs all the time free of charge.  2 or 3 a day is not unusual for our household.[8D]
