The snow has gotten so deep our two long legged hounds would t budge out the slider. I had to dig a path across the deck, down the steps and then had to clear out an area in the over-my-knees high snow at the bottom of the steps.
They then ran gratefully out the door. Poor guys!
The kids swings are just about buried. And there is a mountain of snow that probably won t melt until April where DH kept piling all the snow he shovelled this afternoon. He claims he ll keep adding to the mountain until it stops snowing. I think his brain has frozen.
How much more snow can we possibly get? Makes me glad the popup is in the garage - although that does leave my truck out in the snow[:(]
whippetwrunWell, if I were naked and the snow was up to my waist, there s no way I would go out either! LOL [;)]
It was a clear 11 degrees all day here.....until about an hour ago. Now the weather station is saying 18-24" of new s-word tonight. Was this winter planned by warm weather terrorists to destroy our spirits and economy??? Shoot, I had the truckster washed yesterday & it was sparkling clean. Now, looking out the window, I can t remember which mound I parked it under! [:o][;)][:(]
whippetwrunWe are now in blizzard warnings.
Poor Cookie, is not long legged. she goes out for a few minutes, she is 13 years old and has a hard time moving in good weather.
We have about 15" right now and 3 drifts, we are in a state of emergency at a little after 9:00 this AM. I was at the store when that was put in, Raymond invited one of his twins and her son. I had nothing for children as we are not soda or juce drinkers, and not snack eatters. I now have a whole counter of goodies and hot dogs, frozen wafles, frozen pizzas, and other such stuff we usually do not have.
whippetwrunDH shovels a path for the pups before he clears the sidewalk and driveway. We have always had little, short-haired dogs, and it doesn t take a whole lot of snow to reach their naked bellies. He makes a path from the deck all the way to the back fence, and across the yard, following the perimeter just like they like it. Not the least bit spoiled [;)].
whippetwrunAcording to my dog that s why God invented snowblowers, so daddy can make her a run around the back yard.[:D]
whippetwrunHeck, the stuff in my back yard will hold weight.. My dog s dog-house kinda has a " slope" going in the front door now dang, much more and I will be digging the doorway out for her..
Our trailer hitch is now under the snow [:o] And how much more are we getting??
Let s see what the weather man says...
" Washingtons birthday...Snow developing late in the morning...heavy at times late in the day. Accumulation 2 to 4 inches. Not as cold and brisk. Highs in the upper 20s. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph.
Monday night...Snow...heavy at times. Total accumulation...14 to 20 inches. Very windy. Lows in the lower 20s. Northeast winds 25 to 35 mph. "
and lookie.. more on it s way for Thursday!! Maybe we need to crack open that ozone layer again!! [:D]

I know how you feel. Living in Maine and having a Chihuahua, I have to snowblow the driveway, the walkway and a path for the dog to do her business. Now of course this has to be done when the snow is anything more than 4" or the dog can t get out.
whippetwrunIf you are bored of the Chihuahua, I can come and take him/her away from you [:D]

birol first you are begging for a free PU[;)], now you want a free PU and a free dog.[:D]
I dug a path for our shorter dog last night and this morning. Our Dalmatian gets around just fine in the snow, but the cocker spaniel just isn t tall enough. We got 18 inches so far. Just an inch or so called for tonight. DH went to work yesterday at 2PM and he thinks they will let him come home tonight, around midnight.
I had been planning on taking the PU to the dealer for its spring service. Glad it is still in the neighbors garage.
whippetwrunUpdate - the slider has frozen shut and there is a lovely drift in front of it. [:@] But my neighbor did clear a path to the fire hydrant and I managed to get the 18" inches of snow that fell after DH shovelled yesterday off the driveway and front walk (DH is in bed with a stomach bug, possibly flu), so now I am taking the dogs 3-4 times a day over to the fire hydrant since they are not used to being allowed to " go out" while going for walks.
I used to envy those of you who lived further North - cooler, less humid summers, pretty white snow . . . I gotta say I am over it now. Hey Giffster - any thing down your way not to close to alligators?[;)] I ll take the heat in the summer over these kind of winters!
whippetwrunLet s see, as of Monday 2/17 pm we ve gotten about 10 inches of snow and who-knows how much ice, sleet and rain. School was closed today and they ve already closed for tomorrow. It took DH about 3 hours to dig out our driveway yesterday and he didn t even get it all done. I finished in about 2 hours this am and then after the city plows went by, it took us about another hour (with DD helping) to dig that out. I can already feel muscles that I haven t used in a long time... He mentioned more than once that a snowblower would be great if we got snow like this more than once every few years here in " the south" . We both grew up in Michigan but our blood has thinned since moving here 5 years ago. Our Springer Spaniel goes out and runs like a crazy thing but she gets ice and snow up in her pads.
How much snow does everyone else have and how many days has school been closed?
The PU is happily in the garage but that means that our Jeeps sleep outside. Oh well, as long as the PU is happy.......
How many more weeks until we camp??[:)]

We measured in several places and it looks like we got 30" although the news claims we got 18" (I think they lie alot). The kids are out of school at least until after Wednesday. Our street was plowed today at 4:00 pm. DH took a picture of standing on the mountain of snow left by the plow higher than out mailbox. I cleared out the mailbox front and the blocked front of the driveway. DH has had a stomach bug through all thisand was only able to shovel on Sunday. If I can lift my arms over my head tomorrow I will be very lucky.[&:]
We
will get a snow blower. I don t care if all that ever falls again is 2 -3 inches.
And there are way too many days until camping!!!![;)]
tlhdocI know I won t get a free PU [&:] But I think we might get a cheapo chuvava (sp).
I am talking with a rescue organization and looks like they have one we might get really cheap. I am hoping it won t have health problems ... Feeding it should be peanuts [:)]
birolBirol-
We adopted our Chihuahua through a rescue group, and she is a gem. Luckily, the group she came from was awesome. Just make sure you ask plenty of questions, and read between the lines. If you are concerned about the dog s health, write into the agreement that you can have the dog checked out by a Vet, and be refunded if problems are found. Good luck.
Dawn
whippetwrunAbout 3 or 4 years ago we had three straight days of 2 feet of snow each day, our dog too couldn t go outside until we sholved a path. Guess I shouldn t mention that up here in Ontario Canada things are actually pretty nice this year [:)] We ve had snow on the ground since before Christmas but nothing too crazy. It has been very very very cold however it is slowly getting better. Today the temps were just under freezing and we got a nice layer of fresh snow, about 5 inches and the kids had a ball. First time they could play outside without their nose freezing. The days are slowly getting longer and soon we will be able to dig our pop up out from under it s 3 feet of snow igloo and trade that puppy in for our brand new Palomino Hybrid...jeepers, as much as I enjoy it, I can t wait for winter to end.
Tammy
whippetwrunWe always have to dig out a path for the dogs, too. If we don t she ll go on the deck[: (]
We got about 21" and still haven t gotten plowed. My son was supposed to go to an appointment today and they said their neighborhood had been plowed but ours still has not. I thought maybe I should have tried going but since then two vehicles have gotten stuck near my house. I m sure DH will go back to work tomorrow which means they will plow sometime during the day while he is gone, plowing me in. Cause with my bad back I won t be able to dig out. The kids are out again tomorrow, making it 4 days beyond the allowable limit!
We have a gas light in front of our house and from time to time we smell gas out there but when the gas co. comes out they can never find it. So they said they could cap it closer to the street and would be out in 30 days from the beginning of January. So about two weeks ago Miss Utility comes out and marks all the utility lines. No one comes out, it snows and covers everything up. Finally they come and move some snow but no evidence of digging. Then Fri, the day before the " storm of the century" was predicted, Miss Utility came and put flags in the ground, marking all the lines. 20" of snow later you can t see them either.
whippetwrunWe have about 29" of snow on the ground. We left a table outside and the snow is even with it, most tables are about 29" . Our German Shorthaired pointers are having a ball in it. They make their own runs.
Today it got above freezing. That means the snow will be developing a crust. Depending on the thickness of the crust the dogs can fall through. When that starts happening if the runs they have already packed down want support their weight we run the snow thrower for them.
We have had 3 snow days this year. This part of New England have their winter vacation during President s day week so no school days were lost to the last blizzard. Teh children also get a week of in spring. Taking atheeir winter break, spring break and snow days into account it is going to be well after Father s day in June before they get out of school.
Snow removal was little slower than usual here, but then we don t often get storms of this magnitude, so I can t complain too much. Years when I pay to have the snow thrower tuned up we usually don t get any snow, I skipped the tune up this year and look what happened.
I ran into a guy a couple of years ago at the local small engine repair shop. He had bought a snow thrower there the year before. We didn t get any snow that year and he figured it was on account of having purchased the snow thrower. He was asking what kind of deal they could make him on another one. Buying one the year before had worked so well at preventing snow he thought it would be worth the investment a second time.[:D]

whippetwrunIf only you had traded in yours too, the storm would be avoided, but alas, you skimped [8D][8D][8D]
